This tamperproof screw is used in an assortment of Thule accessories to ensure that the mounting clamps cannot be removed without the proper tool, a tamperproof wrench (853-5270-02 - sold separately).

Hello neighbors, Steven here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at a replacement tamper-proof screw, specifically an M6 x 50 millimeter by Thule. So folks, this will replace one, quantity one, Thule M6 x 50 millimeters, and it is a tamper-proof screw. So you can see that tamper-proof head there and it does prevent the mounting brackets from being removed without the proper tamper-proof wrench. And that is sold separately. It's item number 853-5270-02 and I'll put that on the screen for you as well.

Great! So happy that I found you guys. I was using bolts that semi worked from [the hardware store]. Having the real thing makes all the difference.
