Hello, neighbor, Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at a Replacement Endcap for your Stromberg Carlson RV Exterior and Bunk Ladders. So, folks, this is gonna replace one, quantity one endcap for that Stromberg Carlson Ladder. It would look something like this whenever it's installed, and it's gonna fit the Stromberg Carlson Exterior RV Ladders LA-401, and the Stromberg Carlson RV Bunk Ladders, LA-460, and LA-466. So, very simple replacement part, just a nice hardened piece of plastic. It pushes right in and is held in place with the friction and the size of it compared to the size of the ladder.
That's gonna wrap it up, folks. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
I was waiting to review this product after purchasing and installing a bunch of them. My 2001 vintage RV's ladder was starting to look a bit shabby due to the original end caps getting brittle and breaking off in the Arizona sun. I found these to fit (almost) perfectly. In my photos you can see a comparison of one of the originals and one of these. From the pictures you can see the big difference is that these new ones have a lot heftier tabs on them, which is really good because that's where the originals are failing. The installation goes as follows:
1) Remove the screw going through the front of the rung, if it has one.
2) Drill out the remaining material from your old end cap tabs. I carefully used a 1/4" drill.
3) For rungs with a rear attaching pin, I had to cut about half of one of the tabs off of the new end cap.
4) Gently press or tap the new end cap onto the rung. Shown is using a large screw driver handle as a plastic tap hammer.
5) If your rung has the front screw, drill a hole through the new tab, but not through the vertical rail and reinstall the screw.
I had lost a number of end caps for my roof later on my motohome, and was not having a good time finding replacements. Went to etrailer's site and was able to find them easy. I have ordered from they before and the time from order to delevery was very good. They were easy to work with and provided follow shipping info fast. The caps are very well made an the same as the ones lost. Will be waiting till spring to install but was glad to find them. I was glad to Be able to replace the missing ones to protect my latter. George has been very friendly and help with everything. Have made a bookmark for future use when I need something.
