Running a microwave and fridge on a 30 amp hookup can trip breakers fast. This inverter charger uses PowerAssist to supplement AC input with battery power, and its UL 1741 listing gives you a verified install standard.

Highlights

  • Prevents Shore Power Overloads: PowerAssist supplements weak AC input with battery power during high loads.
  • Handles Multiple Power Sources Automatically: Dual AC inputs switch between shore and generator without rewiring.
  • Keeps Loads Running During Outages: Transfer switching engages in under 20 milliseconds to maintain power.
  • Runs High-Demand Appliances Reliably: 8,000 watt continuous and 20,000 watt surge support heavy startup loads.
  • Meets Verified Installation Standards: UL 1741 listing adds a confirmed electrical compliance rating.
  • Prevents Battery Drain on Large Loads: Secondary 50 amp output only activates when AC input is present.

Features to know about

Prevents Breaker Trips on Limited Shore Power

Running a microwave, refrigerator, and charger on a 30 amp hookup quickly overloads incoming power and trips breakers. PowerAssist steps in by reducing battery charging and supplementing AC input with battery power when demand spikes. This keeps high-draw appliances running without forcing you to shut loads off or rely on a generator.

Switches Between Shore and Generator Automatically

Manually swapping power sources or rewiring creates downtime and risk of interruption. Dual AC inputs accept shore power and a generator or two independent AC sources, with automatic source selection handling the switch. Power stays routed to the system without manual intervention when your input source changes.

Keeps Critical Loads Running During Power Loss

Even brief power interruptions can reset electronics or disrupt refrigeration. The main AC output transfers in under 20 milliseconds when grid or generator power drops. Connected loads continue running through the transition without noticeable interruption.

Manages Large Loads Without Draining Batteries

High-demand loads like water heaters or air conditioning can quickly drain a battery bank if left on inverter power. The secondary AC output only activates when AC input is available, keeping those loads off the battery system. This separation prevents unexpected battery depletion during heavy use.

Meets Verified Electrical Listing Standards

Large power systems often need a clearly defined compliance rating before installation moves forward. This unit carries a UL 1741 listing alongside its integrated inverter charger design and aluminum construction. You get a documented electrical listing tied directly to the product instead of guessing at certification status.

Video Transcript for Review of Victron Power Inverter - Quattro Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger - VN84RR

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look together at this Victron Quattro Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger. This inverter charger is built for large 48-volt battery systems that need to power demanding electrical loads while staying reliable, whether you're plugged into shore power, running a generator, or operating from your batteries. This is going to deliver 8,000 watts of continuous power with a 20,000-watt surge capacity, so this is going to be capable of starting and running heavy applications like your air conditioners, pumps, compressors, and other equipment with high startup demands. I wanna give you a close up here just to kind of go over some of the details here. Obviously, this is basically like the brains of the operation here.

You're gonna be able to see by a series of lights here, the status of what is going on with this. Now, I went ahead and removed the screws here from this panel just so I could easily pop it out so you can get a better view of what's going on the inside. So, you see the connection points here for AC and for battery as well. So, one of the biggest advantages that this has is the feature known as Power Assist. So, if you're running a microwave or a refrigerator and a charger on a 30-amp hookup, that's gonna quickly overload incoming power and it could trip breakers.

Power Assist is going to step in by reducing battery charging and supplementing AC input with battery power when the demand spikes. So, that's gonna keep the high-draw appliances running without forcing you to shut loads off or rely on a generator. This also features dual AC inputs, allowing this to automatically switch between shore power and a generator or two independent AC forces without requiring manual rewiring. If external power is lost, the built-in transfer switch is gonna change over in less than 20 milliseconds, so that's gonna keep connected equipment running with little to no interruption. For added protection, the inverter includes a secondary 50-amp output that only becomes active when the AC input is available, and that's gonna keep large loads from accidentally draining your batteries when you're off grid.

So, I'm gonna go ahead and just, you can see here, obviously this is where your cabling is going to run through, but you're gonna have an easily accessible area here where you can make those connections, as you can see. So, I'm just gonna pop this panel back on and then this will just secure back into place with the screws that I removed. Let me go over some measurements here with you. By the way, this is a mounting bracket that I have sitting here on top. So, this is gonna be included so you can easily mount this on a wall.

I just put that up there since I didn't have room on my tabletop here. But looking at the overall height, not including the bracket that I have sitting here, and I do have the sitting on some blocks here, so the overall height from top to bottom, the base of the unit, it's gonna be about 22 5/8 inches, the overall width, about 19 3/16 inches, and then the overall depth is gonna be about 13 5/8 inches. And this is sizable and heavy. It weighs about 120 pounds, so I needed a few gentlemen that I work with to make sure that I have this safely on my table. The construction is aluminum. And if you're looking for any additional specs that I did not cover with you during our time together, looking for a little more detail, do take a look at this product page. We do have that listed in case there was some information that you we inchesre looking for that I didn't cover with you. But as I mentioned, it's gonna come with the mounting bracket, hardware, instructions as well to guide you through that installation process. Speaking of installation, if you are looking for help with getting this installed, on this product page underneath the photo section, we have a link that will take you to our Installer Locator. Click that link, answer the questions that it has for you, and that locator will find an installer in your area that etrailer has partnered with to help you with the install. Well, again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me.
