Vision X XIL-LPX940 Dimensions

Defeat the darkness with the Xmitter Low Profile Prime Xtreme light bar. This extremely bright, 45-watt LED light bar uses precision optics to shoot out a wide 40-degree beam that floods a large area with bright white light. Its compact, low-profile design allows it to mount in places where many other light bars won't fit. In addition to delivering maximum usable light and stellar efficiency, this light bar also gives you the same rugged, off-road look you've come to expect from similar, industry-standard halogen and HID off-road lights. So you won't have to sacrifice the look that you want to get the visibility that you need.

Wide 40-Degree Flood Beam

The beam pattern of this light is great for seeing out in front of you as well as off to both sides, making it an excellent multi-purpose driving light bar. It is ideal for low-speed, off-road driving applications and industrial applications where being able to see what's ahead of you is important but being able to see in your periphery is vital.

Superior Light Output

Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LED is capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diode is capable of producing. This light bar has a 4,752 raw lumen capacity and produces 3,330 effective lumens for ultra-bright light.

Lux - or the amount of light per square meter - is a measurement of a light's intensity. One lux is the minimum amount of light that is needed for an average person to read a newspaper.

Vision X XIL-LPX940 Beam Pattern

The above lux chart shows just how far and wide the Xmitter Low Profile Prime Xtreme's beam extends. This light bar produces a light so bright and efficient that the beam measures 1 lux at 426' (130 meters). At that distance, the beam also measures 89' (27 meters) wide. To compare, a typical motorcycle headlight low beam measures 1 lux at 88' (27 meters), and a high beam measures 1 lux at 153' (47 meters).

Maximum Efficiency, Minimum Heat

This LED light bar delivers maximum efficiency at all times and always activates immediately, giving you steady, powerful, and reliable light every time you hit the switch. You'll see the difference the first time you fire it up. Unlike HID lights, this light doesn't need to warm up to achieve its full brightness. And unlike halogen lights, the Xmitter Low Profile Prime Xtreme doesn't require that you change out bulbs due to blown filaments.

Premium LEDs

Vision X LED

Not all LEDs are created equal. Vision X uses only top-grade LEDs to ensure that their lights deliver maximum efficiency. Lower-grade LEDs, which make up a large portion of the market, produce more heat at the same wattage and have a much shorter life span.

Prime Drive

Although LED lights typically produce far less heat than halogen or HID lights, heat is still the biggest enemy of an LED. Vision X controls and combats heat with Prime Drive technology. This technology combines electronic thermal management (ETM) with pulse-width modulation (PWM) for superior heat resistance. The result is ultra-bright lights with the highest output, the least amount of wasted light and energy, and the longest life span.

Vision X Light Bar Prime Drive

Many LEDs on the market are only driven to 60 percent of their potential to avoid overheating, electrical spikes, and premature failure. But ETM allows the LEDs in Vision X lights to be driven to 90 percent of their potential. The ETM system monitors each LED's heat level to keep the light operating at a safe temperature, which maximizes its efficiency and life span. If the ETM system senses that the LED is getting too hot, it engages the PWM, which flashes the light at a rate of 100,000 times per second - faster than the human eye can detect. This gives the LED time to cool between cycles while still maintaining its overall brightness. It also allows the LED to be dimmed when used with a Vision X dimmer (sold separately).

Vision X Light Bar Heat Sink

This Vision X light bar is also built with an advanced heat sink to help dissipate heat. The heat sink has a channeled design that allows for convection-style cooling. The channels create a non-mechanical fan - outside air is sucked into the heat sink at one end and flows out of the other end, taking hot air produced by the light with it.

Rugged, Weatherproof Design

Vision X lights are incredibly durable, yet still lightweight. And they are thoroughly tested and protected against voltage spikes; damage from water, shock, or particulates; and interference with radio reception and vehicle wiring.

The Xmitter Low Profile Prime Xtreme has a rustproof, black powder coated aluminum housing and a tough, impact-resistant polycarbonate lens with a scratch-resistant coating for maximum strength and durability.

The 304 stainless steel mounting hardware resists vibration to keep the light firmly in place, and it won't rust or corrode.

And the included wiring harness has an on/off switch and a triple-sealed, industry-standard Deutsch connector.

Video Transcript for Vision X Xmitter Off Road Light Bar Installation - 1999 Hummer H1

Today on our 1999 Hummer H1 we will be installing the 12" Long Vision X Xmitter Low-Pro Prime Xtreme Off Road Light Bar, part number XIL-LPX940. In conjunction with our install we will also be using the Vision X Mounting Brackets, part number XIL-B125 and some Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connectors, part number DW05744-5. The first step to getting our new Vision X lights installed is we need to get our brackets mounted first, so you need to remove the four bolts underneath to get it looking like this. Then we can take the top portion of our bracket, we'll take our included hardware, we're going to run our bolt down through like this, turn it over, put the washer on, and then we're going to get that lock nut started. Then we'll take the bracket, we're going to put it in the notched portion of the light like this, that way we can slide it to either side like this. I'm going to position mine right about there and then we can tighten that down.

Get that nice and secure, no reason to over tighten. Get it nice and snug, and then we're just going to repeat that same process on the other side here. With our brackets in place, we're going to attach them to our light bar. The easiest way I found to do it is to have it in this position here, upside down that way we can attach our bottom portion of our bracket to the bracket on the light. We'll get it lined up with our bolts and we're just going to get them started. We'll get them started on both sides and then we can rotate it around and finish tightening it up.

With our brackets tightened we can go ahead and wire it up. Today we're going to be wiring it to an existing wiring harness here on our Hummer. If you do not have an existing wiring harness, the kit does come with one, but for today we're going to go ahead and cut off the female end here, and now we can start to strip back the rubber coating protecting the wires. Once I get it halfway shaved off, I'm going to cut a slit in the rubber coating that way I can kind of peel it back. You want to be sure not to cut too deep. With that being done we can go ahead and grab our wire strippers and we're going to cut off that excess.

Then we'll start by stripping our wires, we'll come down about 1/2" and start stripping them out. Now let's strip back our existing wire, then we'll grab one of my Deka Butt Connectors and I know that my green is my positive so I'm going to hook that to my red on my Vision X Light, so I'll set that on first. I'll bring that over and I'll crimp that up nice and tight. That feels good. Bring our red wire around, put that in, then crimp that up.

Then we'll connect the yellow to the black which will be the ground, then we can take our heat gun and shrink those up. If you don't have a heat gun a lighter works just as good, you just want to make sure and keep moving back and forth like this that way you don't burn the butt connector. This yellow wire here with our Vision X Light is our dimmer control which we are not using for this application, so what we're going to do is we're just going to put that in place there and we're just going to use some electrical tape to tape all that up together. Now that we've got it taped up, we're going to go ahead and clean up our look, so I'm just going to shove that wire back in our light bar here, then I'll just take some zip ties and make it look nice and pretty, and I'll just cut off the excess of my zip tie and then we're ready to test it out. As you can see they're working great. As you can see for this side we've got a nice open spot, so we're going to put another one, we're just going to repeat the same process. That's going to complete our install of the 12" Long Vision X Xmitter Low-Pro Prime Xtreme Off Road Light Bar, part number XIL-LPX940 on our 1999 Hummer H1.

Ask the Experts about this Vision X Off Road Lights

  • Off-Road Lights for Use on Rola Roof Cargo Basket 59504
The Rola cargo basket # 59504 does indeed have a curved front top tube that is the mounting point for it's included wind fairing. The round and curved surface and the presence of the fairing make this a less-than-ideal mounting point for the Pilot Automotive LED Light Bar # PL-9704. It's hardware is made for a flat mounting surface. Yes, you COULD mount it there with a bit of effort (making sure you drill all the way through both sides of the tubing). Note this will void the basket's warranty....

  • How To Wire Up the PDIMMER for Vision X Xmitter LoPro Prime Xtreme Off-Road Light Bar
I spoke to my contact at Vision X and he informed me that the green wire of the box that has the yellow connector gets run to the dimmer circuit of the Vision X lights, the red wire of the other connector gets run to a 12 volt power source and the black wire gets run to a ground.
