Video Transcript for A Closer Look at the Kelty Rad-Arondack Outdoor Chair

Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Kelty Rad-Arondack camping chair. I'm here with my friend Nicole, and we're gonna go over a lot of the different features and specs on these, how you can use them, what they're made of, and how to get them assembled. It comes in two colors, wood thrush and black fern, and each of them has what doubles up with the carrying case. Once you unfold it and get it out and get it assembled for the day, the carrying case actually doubles up as a little pad that you can leave on the ground. Now this is generally what they call a pet pad, someplace that the dog can lay or something like that. I know plenty of people that have used these to put their small child on as well.

Let them play a little bit, keeps 'em out of the grass in the mud. This is gonna give you a seat that is gonna be 14 inches deep, 14 inches high, 26 and a quarter inches across. So it's got a really nice size to it. It's also got a weight capacity of 325 pounds. It is made of aluminum.

The frame is aluminum with plastic hardware and it's gonna be a polyester seat. So all in all, this is gonna be really, really durable when it comes to, you know, those elements that you come across in the outdoors, you know whether it gets wet from rain, whether you've got it next to a river or a lake shore or something like that. This isn't something that I'm really gonna worry about rusting over time because of what it is made of. When you are storing it, you can get it rolled up and really compact just like this. It's got a nice padded strap for you to carry it around.

This weighs about nine and a half pounds, so you know, not that heavy, but I like having the strap 'cause it's gonna free my hands up to carry other things like my cooler or whatever else I may have with me. In order to get it flat and rolled up like this, there is gonna be a little bit of assembly required every time you want to deploy it and use it, but it's really, really a simple process. Kelty did a good job of making this easy every time you want to open it and close it. After undoing our latches and we roll it all open here, you could see that it kind of fits inside this pocket that's on the inside of it. We're gonna go ahead and remove all of that.

And once we do that, we're gonna open it up. There's this piece right here that I'm just gonna bring up against it. Do the pull pen. Open it just like this. This arm right here is going to come up and connect right into here and we're gonna have this silver push tab. We're just gonna push that in and push it in and lock it in place. And once that's done, we really already have one side of the chair complete. Now again, it we're gonna do the other side, it's gonna be mirrored exactly the same and we're gonna end up putting our seat on right after that. So with both sides complete, I'm gonna go ahead and take the seat itself. And with the Kelty logo up here at the top, I'm gonna start pushing in these tabs. So these are all gonna connect the same way. Push tab in. Right down here, same thing. Push tab in and on the bottom as well. And we are gonna repeat that process on the other side. And that's it for the assembly. Three or four minutes and you're ready to sit down and enjoy whatever event you're at. All in all, I do think this is an excellent value of a chair. I think it's gonna be really durable because of the aluminum construction. It's not gonna be rusting up on me. All of the other Adirondack chairs that fold up that I've seen in the past, they fold up really awkwardly, they're difficult to store, and they're generally gonna be made out of some kind of, you know, metal and metal fasteners and they always end up rusting on me before too long. The other thing that I wanted to mention too is that these are actually really comfortable. These aren't like a lot of camping chairs that I've sat in where I immediately sag and almost feel like I'm gonna be touching the ground, you know, by the end of the day. They tend to, in my opinion, just keep getting more and more and more uncomfortable the longer you sit on it. I can easily see these just with the rigidity of 'em that they're gonna last me all day long. And with its durable construction again, I'm not gonna worry about the rusting, I'm not gonna worry about any fading on the polyester seat itself. These are gonna be nice looking and comfortable for a really, really long time.
