Video Transcript for How to Install the Westin E-Series Round Nerf Bars on a 2006 GMC Sierra

Today on this 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 series regular cab, we are going to be installing the Westin tube steps part number 23-1405. Okay, we are taking a look here at the driver side of the vehicle. And we want to go ahead and point out the body mounting bolts that are located just underneath the cab of the vehicle and that is what our tube steps are going to be attaching to. We have one here at the front we are going to be using and it is just rearward of the front tire and just about even with the front of the driver side door. And then we have one at the rear which is just forward of the rear edge of the driver side door as well. 0:35

We want to go ahead and remove both of the bolts, at the front and the rear of these body mounts. And you may notice that the body mount stops here come out as well when you remove the bolt. And that is fine. We are going to be putting those back up into position though once we put our brackets into place. We just want to set those off to the side for the time being. We will be reusing these bolts to mount our hardware for our tube steps as well. 1:12

Here we have the bolts removed from the body mounts. We can go ahead and start putting our brackets into place. And you will notice that our kit comes with four brackets. There are two for the driver side and two for the passenger side. These are designated with a stamping. If you look here at the front, this one has a DF for driver side front. It is a longer bracket here. And then for the rear, you have a shorter bracket. And again, it is designated with a DR for driver side rear. I am just going to hand tighten those for the time being, until we get everything into place, our tube steps and brackets. And then we can go ahead and tighten them down once we make our final adjustments. You do want the oblong cut out to be facing towards the outside of the vehicle. 2:20

Here, at the end of the tubes, we have built in weld nuts. That is what our 1/2 inch hardware is going to be threading into. And then next we can go ahead and attach out tube step to our brackets here, through these oblong holes in the front. I just have those loosely installed for the time being. Then, not only can we adjust the tube step in and out, but we can also move it front to back. Making those adjustments, it basically comes down to personal preference, where you want the pad to be set. Once you make the determination of where you want the pad in place and the tube step oriented, you can go ahead and start tightening the bolts down. Once you have all of the bolts hand tightened, you can go ahead and torque them down to their specified rating. I will start with the body mount bolts first and then go back through to the bolts holding the tube steps to the brackets. With the bolts torqued down, we just want to repeat that process on the passenger side as well and our installation will be complete. This will conclude the installation of the Westin tube steps part number 23-1405 one a 2006 GMC Sierra 2500 series HD.
