Clamp-On Installation

The TracONE comes with a mounting kit that allows for quick, easy installation to the factory track system in the bed of your Toyota Tacoma. Simply position the bases of the rack where indicated in the included instructions and secure them with the provided clamps. Each support base is held in place by 2 heavy-duty aluminum clamps. Torque the clamps down to ensure a substantial connection and you're good to go.

Toolbox Mounts

Four of the included installation clamps have pre-drilled attachment points so that you can securely mount a crossover-style toolbox (sold separately). The clamps eliminate the need to drill into your truck bed rails when installing the toolbox.

TracRac Slotted Crossbars

The sturdy aluminum crossbars on all TracRac truck racks feature integrated slots for mounting and easily adjusting accessories, such as the included load stops. These slots appear on both the top and bottom of the bars for the ultimate in mounting versatility.

A built-in trip strip at the front of each crossbar shields the slots from wind, maintaining the aerodynamic quality of the bars and preventing that annoying whistle you often find with slotted bars.

Included and Optional Accessories

Included with the TracONE are 4 aluminum load stops with tie-down points. These load stops are designed to mount in the slots of the crossbars and slide along them for quick, easy adjustment.

TracRac crossbars accept a variety of accessories (sold separately) that slide and adjust for optimal placement.

Sturdy, Rustproof Construction

The TracONE rack system is constructed of durable, lightweight aluminum. Because aluminum is lighter than steel - the material most often used for truck racks - only a small percentage of your truck's cargo capacity is taken up by the rack itself, enabling you to pack on more weight than you could with a steel system.

Even though aluminum is already rustproof, TracRac has taken the extra step of adding a dual powder coat finish to further protect the rack. The silver electrostatic powder coat (e-coat) clings to the metal surface better than traditional paint finishes for a more durable covering. The second coat is a clear finish that adds extra shine and protection from scuffs and scratches.

Video Transcript for Thule TracRac TracONE Ladder Rack Review

Hello, neighbors and truck owners. Today, we're taking a look at the Thule TracRac TracOne ladder rack, and this is gonna be available in not only this nice gray powder coat, but also a black finish as well. Now, if you look for a ladder rack on your Tacoma and haven't had luck, that's because Toyota has this bed track system. And so it makes it a little bit tricky to use a universal ladder rack system on your Tacoma. Well, that's where Thule came in. And these are actually designed specifically for the Tacoma to fit into these slots, which is great.

It's using a nice OEM piece, that's already pretty sturdy to cinch this down, making it really easy to not only put together, but also to set it up. A nice design feature about these clamps here is you can see this little bump out here and what that is, is a cradle for your toolbox. So not only are you gaining real estate with the ladder rack itself, but also you're not inhibiting the ability to be able to put your inbed toolbox. So besides the brackets being Tacoma specific, the rest of the ladder rack is gonna be getting you the same that you would get from any other ladder rack that isn't a specific to the Tacoma. And what that's gonna be is a 65 inch bar.

So that's gonna be pretty wide allowing you to put your works tools, whatever surfboards, whatever kinda comes your way, that's gonna be too long for a truck bed. It's gonna be able to go up here. Now you have a weight capacity of 800 pounds on this, which is a decent amount. So definitely take that into consideration with what you're loading up, and make sure you don't overload it, but that is a pretty big window. You also have these load stops here to custom cater to whatever you're putting on here.

And you can slide them pretty easily. And when you're happy with the space that you need, simply tighten down the handle and it's gonna hold it in place. Also on these load stops is a nice open hole and a hook. And so that's gonna allow you to be able to strap down whatever you're carrying to know that it's not gonna fall off your rack while driving. So it does use the T-track system that Thule has, which is really nice because it's gonna open it up to be able to put a bunch of accessories on the ladder rack and not just, you know, lumber or ladders or whatever it may be.

You can put bike racks on here. You can put a roof basket, you can put a number of different things. So if you need to take your kayak, no problem. If you need to get your bike up here, no problem. And through all that, you're also being able to retain all of the bed space while doing it. Now, both the gray and the black have E-coat finish. And what that's gonna do is prevent scratching long-term. So when you're loading things up, you can actually kinda use this as leverage and it's gonna prevent it from really getting chewed up and that's gonna be great because it's going to look good for a long time. Now, construction of the ladder rack is going to be made out of aluminum, which is great because it's pretty lightweight. It's not gonna add a ton of weight to your truck and also putting it in place makes it a lot easier, being a little bit lightweight. Now, something else you'll notice is the shape of the crossbar itself has an aerodynamic kind of wing shape to it. And what that's gonna do is cut through winds. So it's gonna really reduce that wind noise when driving. So if you've ever had a roof rack with square bars, it creates a lot of wind resistance. It can lower your gas mileage and you can hear it while driving. Well, the shape should cut down that to a minimum. Now, if you we're installing a toolbox, this is where this bracket actually comes into play because your box is actually gonna sit on top of here, but it's kinda not level so included as extra brackets here. These are gonna slide in just like we did on the other ones. You have this piece in here and it's got this nice little rubber padding as well. That's just gonna kinda sit here on the bedrail and then this won't be on the slot and it'll actually clamp down here. And that way you have a level platform for your toolbox to sit on. So with this, it's gonna keep that toolbox nice and flush and level. But also these bump-outs here. We have three of them on each side, that's gonna hold it from sliding laterally. So that's gonna be really nice keeping your toolbox in place. Now, of course, if you don't have a toolbox that still works as a ladder rack, and it really makes it nice and easy because you can kinda use this as a leverage point. You're able to slide this along and again, it's got that E-coat so it's gonna keep it from getting scratched too much and I can just work my way up here. And then the adjustability of the load stops is really nice too, because obviously it's wider at the base of this ladder. So I can adjust these accordingly, giving it a nice snug fit. The great part is if you have different loads that you carry at different times and not just the same ladder over and over, you'll be able to adjust on the fly really quickly, cinge that down. And then now I can strap this down and know that it's not gonna go anywhere. Now, if you need some straps to get your ladder or whatever tied down, we actually have some really nice ones here at etrailer, and they're coded here to kinda protect them. They also have a little band to keep all that excess from flapping. But you do wanna make sure that you're not just putting stuff on here without strapping it down. And that's the great part about these load stops is the fact that you have a few points to actually run it through and make sure that it is secured. So now with our ladder strapped down, we're ready to hit the road and get to the job site. And hopefully this is a great option for you to gain a lot of real estate on your truck without taking any of your previous space that you had before. And this is gonna be a great option for anyone that wants to put accessories on here, or just use it as a work truck. And that was a look at the Thule TracRac TracOne ladder rack. Thanks for watching..

Great customer service over the phone, and the gentleman that helped me, James, followed up on the status of the product through shipping and delivery. Would recommend.

Rack was a good fit for my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado and is solidly constructed and easy to install. Expensive but probably worth the money. No problem at all with black powder coating in screw threads, which many other reviewers complain about. I bought the Thule aero rack pads at the same time. They do not fit the rack properly and I’m disappointed that etrailer did not question the order and offer advice.

by:

Rack is sturdy and well built. Took less than an hour to assemble and install. Maximum height of rack does not clear the top of the cab of a 2016 Ford F-350 SD Crew Cab. If you want to carry a kayak it will require foam blocks or Malone kayak saddles made for the Tracrac(not carried by etrailer). You can not carry a long ladder if used on this vehicle. Over all it is good rack though.

Best rack on the market, and I’ve owned many! This is my second set of TracRac ladder rack systems. The first in 2006, and it was still going strong until I sold the truck with the rack on it, and now this one I purchased in 2022. Unfortunately, this will be my last one as it will take me into retirement, but it will live on with the new owner that buys this truck! Thank you for manufacturing such a good quality product. A+++++

by:

This rack is frikin awesome. Just what I expected. Had it unboxed and installed in 2 hours- might have been a beer break or 2
Great price great customer service as all ways.
100% satisfaction.

by:

Bought this Thule rack to go with a pair of Thule Hullavators. It was the perfect rack to fit our needs. Thanks to etrailer.com for their help in selecting the best rack to fit our needs.

by:

This rack is awesome. I have carried, lumber, step ladders and lengthy pipes with ease. I also bought a cantilever extension and it’s a plus for hauling lengthy materials.

by:

Great rack, very sturdy and easy to assemble. Took about 2 hours to get it all adjusted and tightened down. Easily can fit 16’ material even though only 5’ long.

by:

I chose the racks because they appeared more secure than my previous setup, and they certainly are. I took my time methodically assembling things and all went well. A precious review mentioned there is little to no clearance between the button head cap screw (securing the clamp and bracket to truck rail) and the side of the truck bed; I found by rocking the tall leg I could finger tighten 'till the foot made contact, then just needed a few turns from a L shaped Allen wrench.

by:

Installed on my Ford F250 Super Duty. Excellent construction, takes about one hour to assemble with just a few tools. Instructions are good, and all parts were in the box. Looks/fits fine on my truck. The rack is about 1" taller than the cab roof. Flat items like ladders, lumber, rigid pipe will clear, but flexible items like PVC or plywood may touch the top of the cab when travelling. I purchased this unit to transport kayaks when we travel on vacation. Canoes/kayaks clear fine if transported right-side up (as they are flat on the bottom) . But I load them upside down for better wind and noise control, and the 'tip' of the boat will just touch the top of the cab. I easily fixed this by getting a few 4"-5" stainless hose clamps at Lowe's, and a piece of 2x4, and clamp that to the front bar. Not a hill for a stepper.

by:

This is the second one of these racks I have purchased the first one was excellent but the second one I purchased the second one I purchased a little over a year later was ruff first it had a few small dents in the upper cross overs on the uppers there was places where the coating was coming off as soon as I opened the box then when I went to install it on the truck it was horrible to try to get lined up seemed things were twisted or something but I finally got it on the truck just hope it holds up

by:

The rack is slim and not overly gaudy for my Denali. But handles a decent amount of weight is quite sturdy for lumber and my 15' canoe.

by:

The bos for ladder rack was left in my front porch with one end ripped open. Im hoping all parts are still in the box. I am installing today so I will let you know.

by:

Solid rack. Thule products are good quality and the rack is no exception. Installation is a bit difficult based on how you secure the frame. Screws were tight so you have work pretty hatd to get the screws fully rightened.

I have a fly rod vault and the cross blades are too wide to accommodate which was nit clear when I ordered. So i have to set up a non-traditional set up.

by:

I received my product quickly. I was very pleased with the quality and instructions. I installed this on my truck that also has an in-bed tool box.

Although the install instructions were easily understood it would be very helpful to have another set of hands.
I do have a suggestion w/ref to the excellent hardware supplied. Unfortunately I found in several instances I experienced difficulty because there was paint in the internal threaded areas. This I was able to overcome by using the correct tap to clear the internal threads.

I love it.

by:

Great product, easy install, easy to follow instructions. My only complaint is: getting tool box mounting kit and there is no option for getting black hardware. Who would think I wouldn't mind silver clamps with my black rack, black tool box, ladder that I painted black? Black running boards, mirrors and handles changed out from factory. I painted them, but wish I didn't need to after paying I think around $600 for the 2 products combined. They should look at sending the tool box kit to powder coat. It's literally the exact same clamp with a hole drilled and threaded in it.

by:

Nice rack just does not work with an other thule products. I have thule bike and kayak racks.

by:

Nice Rack. Very sturdy with nice hardwa re.

by:

Really too new to rate as far as functionality as I just installed it today. 2 guys about an hour plus. Looks great. Had a few little scratches out of the box, but since I know it's going to get used for my roofing company, I know this is a minor thing. Looks great and hope it performs as well as it looks. I really didn't want a full ladder rack so I think this will work out just fine Delivery was super quick too

by:

After using only for a couple months, the bolts continually loosened up until they sheared off leaving the rack unable to be used. Never will I buy anything of this sort again. Track rack truly went down and they sold to Thule

by:

Rack has been stable with a 250# RoofNest tent installed.

by:

I love this truck rack! I want to give it 4.5 stars but that’s not an option. The reason I’m leaving 4 stars instead of 5 is so that people will read this review for the one critical element that gives it a mark down. The brackets are made specifically for a Toyota Tacoma with the bed rails. The issue is that the bolts used to tighten the rack to the truck are so tightly wedged against the inside bed of the truck that it’s almost impossible to get to them. It’s incredibly easy to strip the head of the bolt because of the angle required to insert a tool to tighten them onto the truck bed.

For context I do not keep this attached to my truck at all times it is only used when I need to utilize the truck rack.

We purchased some ratchet style tools that allow us to put it on faster but that does not prevent the stripping of the head of the bolt used to tighten the brackets.

My recommendation to Thule And or etrailer is to include the necessary tools to attach this to the truck because there is no standard tool that works well. The ratchets that we purchased were maybe $10 each however the hex bit required is still too long even at an inch. If we could find them in half an inch that would be optimal, but my search has so far proven unsuccessful.

With that said it holds the weight limit as indicated and felt super sturdy on a 14 Hour drive loaded with roughly 450 lbs.

by:

It goes together easily with some patience. It’s solid and sturdy once installed. The bits that make it Tacoma-specific come in a separate box and take the place of other parts in the universal kit so there will be extras. Quality is what I expected. Fitment is glove-ish. My only complaint is the clamps are a silver color (some clear coat not bare aluminum) and everything else is black. Not a big deal. Now I can haul a canoe properly and not looking like a dweeb. Fast delivery.

by:

Arrived quickly, easy to assemble, sturdy, well made product. Very happy with purchase.

by:

So I bought this truck bed rack system to help me transport some kayaks for a camping trip. Package was delivered and the box it came in had three holes in it. Something penetrated the box deep enough to dent the crossbars. Also the paint that covered the crossbars was compromised and came off where the dents were. I called customer service and they immediately ordered two more crossbars but it was impossible to get them to me before the campus trip. Kayaks had to stay home. So I get home from trip and the new crossbars were delivered. I opened them up right away only to discover that one of the crossbars had a dent in it. Haven’t contacted them yet with this new problem. I don’t have an issue with customer service. They were great. But don’t understand why these things keep showing up with damage on them. Can it be UPS? Most likely but might just return the whole thing and get a refund. Feel like I can’t win here. Paid a lot of money for these things so I expect product to show up in perfect condition. New. Product is a Thule. If it was a cheap rack then I wouldn’t care since I’m gonna use it and get it well used. Only asking for it to show up not damaged
