Video Transcript for Rapid Switch Systems Pro Sport Truck Bed Ladder Rack Review

What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the rapid switch systems, pro sport ladder rack. This is gonna help you carry ladders kayak, or lumber up and out of your bed and on the rails. That way maybe you have oversized loads. I can see the ladders a little bit longer.

It'd be leaning up in the bed. Same with the kayak. This is up and out of there. Carry more stuff in here. Throw some coolers in here, maybe a toolbox or something.

You don't always have to clear out your bed. If you're gonna haul, this stuff here too. Another great thing about this is it can easily be removed without any tools. So you can just twist these posts, lift this part out and move it off your truck, leaving just the rails which don't go into the bed at all. There'll be right here and out of the way but then you have full bed access and you don't have to have this on there at all times.

Let's check it out. Now they make the system for a bunch of different size trucks, so make sure you get the right one for you. Again, whether you have a full sized truck with a long bed, a short bed, or you had a compact size truck or even a mid-size truck, they make the system for each one of those, but they all function the exact same. So you don't have to worry about it being any different on any of those. Just make sure you use our website to get the right one for you and your truck.

Right away, I want to show you what I was talking about on how easy it is to actually break down. So I'm just gonna come right here. You can see this clip on this pin that goes through there. I'm just going to remove this and then push the pin back out the other side, you might have to push up a little bit because it may be stuck. There we go. Just like that. Now I'm going to repeat that on the other side, but what we're going to be able to do is lift this up and out. Once I get that one out too. Now we should be able to lift up. Just kind of get started on both sides. Lift off. Just set it down to the side. As you saw it wasn't sliding right off, but that's okay. It's kind of a good thing that it had some kind of friction to hold it in place. So even when you just first set it on there and hit down on it a little bit to get it there and line up this hole it's going to stay in place at least. It's not gonna just slide right down every time so you have to hold it up. So it does hold it in here pretty good. So it will take a couple of pops to get it off there and then to work it off. But it wasn't that bad at all. This is the easiest part. So you're just gonna twist like this and remove the post. With it broken down like this, you can see There's barely any evidence that you even have a ladder rack, which is a good thing. Especially if you don't use it all the time maybe you don't want it on there. You don't want to see it. You know, this is much better to have that option to take this down and get it out of the way and just have your normal truck bed. You have the plates, the mounting plates here that stick up a little bit, but they don't add much to your bed. And they're pretty much out of the way. I mean, you don't have to worry about this. You got the three clamps that come in here, but again they don't stick up and take up any bed space at all. So you can just leave these there, not worry about them store these in your garage and keep them out of the way for when you actually need them. Now, when it comes down to reassemble you just drop them back in and you can kind of adjust it for what you're going to need it for. So maybe you're not going to put the ladders and the kayaks on there. Maybe you wanna try and put a bike rack up there move it to the closer hole. You can put them closer together. And that bike rack is going to fit. We're going to put it back in its normal position. It's really nice that they just twist into place. Now they're sturdy and in there, there's no tools. That's really awesome because you know, most of them you have to get the tools to take it all apart. Now, these spare holes here, there is accessories for those. You can get tie-down loops that do the same thing, twist in there and stay that they offer. They're on our website. You can check those out too if that's something that you're interested in. Another thing that you can adjust is height. So you can see this one's going to be in the lowest position. And we had this one in the highest position. You have these holes that you can align to adjust it. All the way up or down. They're about five inches and three-quarters apart from each other. So you can just slide this up. Throw the pin in here, if you want this height, same here all the way to the top gives you plenty of room for different options. Maybe you want to just go a little bit lower. You don't need anything over the cab and you don't have any overextended loads. You can just lower this down and keep a low profile. Overall, the Ladder racks made out of a black coated anodized aluminum. So it's going to hold up to the elements when you leave it on your truck. Also, it has a weight capacity of 500 pounds. Now you can get a little bit more out of that. If you get the crossbars that add on here on the sides it has a little bit more support on both sides and it'll up it to 800 pounds of a weight capacity. The cross bars have an aerodynamic design. So they're not just going to be square up here. The wind hits and has nowhere to go after that. It's going to have an aerodynamic design. So it just goes over the top and the bottom and also has a weather strip here, filling in that gap at the top where you would put accessories so that there's no wind noise hitting that. And it's not whistling while you're driving down the road. Something else I wanted to point out, is we peeled back the weather strip to kind of show you where you would slide this in and it's not really used for T track accessories. It's a little smaller than your normal T track. It's more used just to go ahead. If you look at the bottom to mount the crossbar to the arms here, so just slides in there. So get some measurements real quick. Measure from the top of the bed rail here to the top of the bar, and it's going to be the lowest position You can put it. It's going to be nine and three quarters inches. To right here. Now, we're gonna go to that highest one up here and do the same measurement. And that one is gonna be 26 and three quarter inches from down here to up here again. Now both bars are going to be 72 inches in length as well. Now lets take a look at the base rail to get some measurements on that from front to back. It's going to be 57 and a half inches there. And then let's measure how much it adds to the top of the bed rail. It's going to stick up an inch and a quarter. And that looks, look at the mounting holes for the posts. So these are going to be 10 inches apart. And then these are the next one. Those are 30 inches apart. And then from the front, most one, to the back most one is going to be 50 inches apart. I'm not worried about going anywhere and I can easily take this off if I want to. It's as easy as twist unloosening those twisting these and taking off if I don't want it on there. I think that about does it, thanks for hanging out, and I hope this helps..

  • How To Install A Ladder Rack Onto A 2019 Ford Raptor That Has A Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover
It sounds like you are wanting to install a ladder rack onto your 2019 Ford Raptor that has a tri-fold tonneau cover installed on it already. This may be possible, but your tonneau cover must mount inside the bed rails, not on top of the bed rails. If the tonneau cover mounts on top of the bed rails then it will interfere with the way a ladder rack installs onto the bed rails. The Rapid Switch Systems Pro Sport Truck Bed Ladder Rack # RS67FR that you were looking at will not work since...

The BAKFlip FiberMax Hard Tonneau Cover - Folding - Aluminum and Fiberglass, part # BAK126309, is compatible with your 2008 Ford F-150. This tonneau cover does not cover you stake pockets, so any ladder racks that attach via stake pockets will be compatible with this tonneau cover. Please keep in mind the design of most ladder racks will prohibit you to fold your tonneau cover while they are on the truck.
