E-bikes and fat-tire rigs can be tough to lift, but the Piston Pro makes it easy. The hydro-pneumatic ratcheting arms deploy automatically with just a tap, so you can use both hands to guide the bike onto the rack. Each U-shaped bridge adjusts for 18"–29" wheels and up to 5" tire width, holding securely by the tires—no frame contact. Add the telescoping aluminum ramp (sold separately) to roll bikes straight into place without straining your back.
Instead of fixed cradles, this rack uses open wheel trays that let you position bikes exactly where you want them. That means no bumping handlebars or pedals on the drive. The deep grooves grip everything from narrow road tires to 5" fat bike rubber, so whatever you ride stays spaced and stable without marks or scratches on the frame.
When you need to grab gear mid-trip, just pull the pedal to tilt the rack down—even with both bikes loaded. It folds up tight when not in use to keep things clean and out of the way in smaller spaces. The hand-and-foot pedal design means you never have to crawl around or reach between bikes to release the tilt; it’s all within easy reach.
Once the shank is seated in the hitch, tighten the flatlock cam with the included tool to expand the anti-rattle wedge inside. That tension holds the rack firmly in place so it won’t sway or shift at speed. A stainless steel hitch lock secures it to your vehicle, while a 12-mm braided steel cable with soft rubber coating locks both bikes to the rack—keeping everything right where it should be.
From burly e-bikes to adventure builds, this rack handles up to 60 lbs per bike across two trays. The aluminum body and steel hitch are finished in black powder coat for corrosion resistance, and it fits 1-1/4" × 1-1/4" hitch receivers with wheelbases up to 53". Strong, solid, and smooth in operation—it’s built for riders who don’t want limits getting in the way of their next haul.

The features of the rack make it easy to use. Stable ride for our bikes down a wide variety of conditions (highway, dirt road, wash boards). Expensive, but the ease of use and quality make it worthwhile.
I researched tray racks for mountain bikes and knew that Kuat's Piston Pro was the best rack for my needs. I love etrailer for the how to install videos, support and pricing. If etrailer sells an item I'm interested in I purchase from them. I do this because of how hard they work for their customers. This rack is exceptional. Build quality is first class. The assembly was simple, the locking cable and hitch lock are very sturdy. My 29" wheel full suspension Specialized fits perfectly. My son's smaller Scott Mountain Bike also fits perfectly. We are getting Fat Tire Bikes and the trays support 5" tire widths. Adjustments for wheel size is simple, loading a bike is even easier. The bikes are solidly secured in place. 10 out of 10.
