Today we're going to be taking a look at the Performance Tool Bench Vise. A bench vise is attached directly to a work bench or a work area to hold a work piece in place while working on like sawing, planing and drilling. Attachment hardware to get this installed to a workbench our workspace is not included. The unit does feature a 360 degree swivel base, so it's a really nice design it'll swivel all the way around. If I flip this over you can see that it has three mount holes on the unit. Those are pre-drilled mount holes.

Mounting hardware is not included. The unit also features a lockdown located on each side. So what you can do is you can actually tighten that and you want to tighten both of them and then that's going to secure the unit so that way the base doesn't swivel anymore. So you got the swivel feature and you got the lockdown feature, really nice features of the unit. We're looking at a nice, durable steel construction with a durable powder-coated finish so it's strong and durable, it's also going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion. To open up the jaw, simply use this area right here. Now with it fully opened, it's going to open up to about five and one quarter of an inch wide.

The unit is pre-lubricated, so it should be ready for use right out of the box. The jaws do feature a textured surface for maximum grip and you could put some soft grip pads on there to protect whatever it is that you're holding from scratching or damage. Those are sold separately, you can find them here at eTrailer.com. Taking a measurement of the jaw width, those are going to measure six inches from edge to edge. Again the opening is all the way up to five and a quarter. Then the throat depth which is from this surface to the top of the jaw, that's about two and three eighths of an inch. The unit does feature a polished built-in anvil, this is a precision machine surface for flat shaping.

That's going to give us a measurement going in this direction of about three and five eighths, going this direction, it's going to measure about three and a half inches. I did do overall measurements with it in the fully protracted position, or the fully compact position. It gave us an overall length from edge to edge of around thirteen inches. It gave us a width measurement which, at the widest point, is actually from one edge of the foot to the other edge, and that was about six and five eighths of an inch wide and the overall height was about six and a half inches tall.
