This fully welded Curt trailer hitch receiver gives you the strength to tow or carry more with confidence. Rated for a maximum gross trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and a 500-lb tongue weight, it’s built for light to moderate towing. With weight distribution, capacity increases to 5,500 lbs GTW and 550 lbs TW. The 2" x 2" receiver opening works with most ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers, so you can make the most of your setup whether you’re pulling a small trailer or adding storage.
The hitch is made from sturdy steel and finished with a gloss black powder coat over a protective base coat that resists rust and corrosion. Precision robotic welding ensures consistent strength and a clean fit where it matters most. It’s designed for real-world durability so you can trust it on the road season after season.
You don’t need special tools or a shop lift to mount this hitch. It bolts directly onto the frame using included hardware—no welding needed. The complete hardware kit and installation instructions make it straightforward to install in your own driveway at your own pace. For anyone who likes to handle projects themselves, this design keeps setup simple and frustration-free.

Perfect fit
Excellent hitch for my ‘97 Nissan hardbody. Delivered missing one piece.
Fit fine on 1986.5 d21 4x4. Only had to drill two 1/2" holes.
A Quality product delivered quickly! just what I Needed.Thank you!!!!
Excellent product. Haven't had a single issue with it. This was my first install ever and it took me less than an hour to do.
Instructions could have included some pictures. It would have been easier
My 2nd hitch to install no problem with installation would recommend
The last hitch was missing one piece of hardware, customer service polite and prompt to send missing piece
etrailer the company was great in my dealings with them. My first box was missing a critical bracket, so they sent me another box. This box was also missing the bracket. Turns out, it was a Curt problem. So it falls more on them, but I'm only giving three stars because it was a frustrating ordeal all around.
Fit and finish were good, instructions were easy to follow. Ships assuming frame bolts are reusable, which was annoying since in my case, both were too short, and metric to boot, so not the same as all the other bolts on the hitch. Buying replacement bolts wasn't hard, but I'd rather not have to do it after buying a kit.
The hitch went in smoothly. The instructions had a lot of detail, and it was quite accurate. I was surprised at how smoothly and easily we mounted the hitch. So, I put in the wiring harness, then the hitch, in about an hour and a half. I was happy with the product, the price, the delivery time, the detail of the instructions, and the ease of installation. My truck looks really nice with the hitch on it. Bob

There is no way this will fit my truck. I have a 1986.5 that is supposed to be identical to the 1987 truck. Mine is a 4wd. There is a bed mount on top of the frame and other obstacles where this hitch mount need to go. Are you sure this is the right one?

Absolutely love Curt products! Have bought and installed on all my trucks. Gooseneck and receiver hitches. Life long customer here!
Both items worked great and fit was good. Did all myself!

Very good so far. Has held up well.
I drive a 1996 Nissan Hardboard (D21) 2WD.
I'll post my experience.
Order the hitch and took a week or so to get out. It showed up and the brackets were missing. Support told me they would send out the brackets but accidentally sent me an entire unit and the replacement was also missing brackets. Called the company and they resolved my issue.
As for the installation of the bracket. It was a lot of work. The spacers and the bolt that held the spaces could not be installed flush with the frame because of an existing plate from the shocks that was on top. I bought a hacksaw and a bi-metal blade and took off 1/2 inch of the plate so the spacer and bolt would sit correctly. There is not much space to work with above the frame. Posted many pictures of how I installed it. I only needed to drill two holes (the middle portion) into the frame since the other holes already existed.
If the bolt and spacer would have fit correctly this installation would have taken me 30 minutes. However, I have the receiver installed and I am so pleased with it. Great quality and I can finally haul things around.

Per the instructions on some models of the 1996 Nissan Pickup when there is interference with the shock absorber mount it will require that forward attachment fasteners to be installed. The flat washer will need to be modified by the installer to ensure that the bolt installed is straight and will not bend after tightening.
very poor instructions and missing hardware for the extreme price I would have expected more quality control and the you actually have to flip the hitch upside down or it would hang to low. but I made it work. I wouldn't buy the product again. etailer did excellent fast shipping and stayed on top of the game, curt how ever dropped the ball. They need better control of there products.
