Easier to install than what isI was able to install this hitch on my 2009 patriot without having to lower the exhaust, you should insert the passenger side first then the drivers side last. The drilling of the hole and fishing the bolt thru was the most difficult part. I chose this hitch for the price and added mounitng bolts. It was on sale so it was a good fit for my budget!2949

This product was remarkably easy to attach to our 2009 Patriot. It was helpful to have my daughter help me, but it might have only taken me a bit longer to do myself. We didn't need to adjust the exhaust system at all to enable installation, though some of the nuts/bolts are a bit cramped to get access when tightening. However, after a few attempts with my wrenches (use a ratchet for one) to find the best reach approach, I was able to cycle through the tightening process. We also didn't have to enlarge holes; bolts fit through cleanly. Total installaiton time about 40 minutes. This product is a great deal, easy to install, and works well. We are pleased.45456

The hitch for my Jeep was a perfect fit. The installation was incredibly easy minus working the exhaust hangers off so that the exhaust could be lowered prior to installing the hitch itself.826202

solid product , quality!I have installed this on my 2009 Patriot.I chose this one for the added 500lbs tow capacity compared to the other matches for my vehicle and not being worried about the extra work, dificulty and time in installation -since I'm a professional when it commes to mechanics.I will never tow a 4000lbs trailer with this vehicle(far exceeds what the little jeep could do :)) so now I'll probably save time and choose the other stile without the drilling required and without the exhaust lowering requirement.

This product worked out perfectly. We just needed a receiver, so we could attach a bike rack. I ordered this one on a Sunday. It came on Wednesday. It took about 30 minutes to install. Im not a mechanic, but I do have some manual skills. E-trailer site mentions I would have to widen holes for the bolts to fit. But the bolts went straight through. The instructions booklet was a bit confusing too. It said I would need do do a cut-out in my rear bumper plastic. This was not mentioned on e-trailer site. It turned out they were right. Not cutting, no drilling. Perfect fit. Those were actually good news, but still a tad confusing. Otherwise, it looks pretty sturdy. This trailer hitch was so easy to install. I thought I would need help but I didn't. I didnt even have to lower the exhaust as the instructions say. I simply lifted the hitch, held it with one hand and installed a bolt with the other. Aligning the bolts was easy. Had some difficulty installing the nuts but after manning up, it went on. There is little wiggle room but was able to tighten the bolts. Instructions say to torque the nuts 115 ft. lbs ( not much). I do not have a torque wrench and did not want to spend money for a one time use, so I used elbow grease. Tightened it down till I lifted my self off the ground. The hitch will not move at all after that. Very . Gonna put my 3 bicycle rack on it. can't wait.802391

Too easy to install, no joke! Out of the box and on our 2010 Patriot in 15 minutes, no exhaust removal needed. Free shipping took one week to arrive but it was free. Wiring package took about 2 hours, I was not comfortable running power wire as shown in video. I chose to run parallel with rear brake line instead, which took longer. I purchased a trailer hitch receiver and wiring harness for my daughter's 2010 Jeep Patriot. I had planned on spending Saturday installing it for her. Hitch still working like new after a year, will order in the future.

I needed a hitch to pull my motorcycle trailer without having to use my gas guzzling 4X4 V8 pickup truck.This hitch was very easy to install on my 2008 Jeep Compass. It simply bolted in place with no problems and I didn't even detach the muffler like the instructions suggested to do. The wiring harness was an easy install also. Hardest part was running the power wire to the battery. I just followed the brake lines forward and that worked great to keep it away from anything that could damage it. I would recommend both of these products to anyone. 138643

I have only towed my trailer once with this, but it worked perfectly.
