So far so good, installed it within 20 mins of receiving it.
Super easy. Thanks

Perfect fit on the hitch and the plug in and tow wiring harness. Drop the spare tire or send the kids in the house due to cursing. Had to make a trip to Lowes for 3 nuts that went nutty and escaped the less than sufficient packaging.

by:

Trailer hitch 13183 was extremely easy to install. The tubing and welds appear to be very high quality. The website made it very easy to find the correct part for my car, as well as the other things needed such as the wiring harness and the correct ball hitch and pin. The video and directions were accurate and easy to follow. The only reason this wasn't 5 stars is that the trailer hitch came with several scrapes in the paint that went down to the metal.

by:

Product order and delivery couldn't have been any better. Installation was as easy as shown in the video. I did wait to lower the exhaust hanger as the exhaust pipe helped hold the hitch in place while I attached the first couple of bolts. With a 17in spare, the fit is tight and requires the tire to be tilted to be raised. Also installed the 4 pin connector and mounting box. Complete job done in about an hour with no problems. No need to jack-up the vehicle.

by:

Great product, shipped quite fast.
Got
in on in an hour or so of lying in the dirt with ants and skeeters biting my butt my ears, hands, arms, face.
Spare tire 17" was a little tricky to get back into place (gotta lift up the front past the diff' first). Looking for my lost ball hitch (Sigh) then I'll be good to go.

by:

etrailer has great prices, incredibly fast shipping, and carries great items. We were able to buy a hitch, harness, AND replace the tires on our trailer for the price of just a hitch most other places! Thanks etrailer for great service and allowing us to get our vehicle and trailer back in order for a big move!

by:

The Hitch arrived on time and all in one box. The installation was quick only about 20 minutes. I would recommend watching the installation video on youtube it was very helpful. I found this website googling trailer hitch and was a little worried at first. It's not easy putting your trust in a website you've never heard of before. Put all worries aside these guys are great!!!!!

by:

Great product, box was beat up upon delivery, had scratches on frame, hopefully from shipping. Threw some paint on it & good to go!!!

Works like a champ!!!

Easy install in about an hour, no need to drill or drop spare tire. Hitch has worked flawlessly with a bike carrier, shelf and 8 foot trailer.

by:

I'm very happy with this hitch receiver so far (although I haven't towed anything yet). The package was delivered quickly and the shipping box was sturdy and intact upon arrival. All of the parts were included and the instructions were as clear as could be.

This hitch receiver says it's for a 2000-2004 Xterra and I installed it easily on my 2002. The installation would have taken me less than a half an hour, if the exhaust bracket retention nut wasn't so difficult to remove (it was completely rusted in place). My advice - spray that nut with lubricant BEFORE starting anything else. The rest of the installation was a piece of cake. Great video too!

Thanks for a great product at a great price!

by:

This is a quality heavy duty product. We had it installed at our local muffler shop because our vehicle did not have the original muffler and the hitch wouldn't fit. It was an easy and low cost fix. We mostly use the hitch for a bike rack. Drove from Missouri to the Florida Keys and no problems.

by:

The install was very simple & easy. basically lined up the hitch and tightened the plate and bolts and we were set! I use it to haul my dirt bike around abs it hasn’t done me wrong yet!
Totally recommend this hitch for your xterra, mine is an 02’ and it fits perfect.

by:

The hitch was easy to install, and has served me well moving a variety of trailers from open utility models to light masts and small boats. Having a second set of hands was really helpful on the install, and greasing down the whole hitch with Fluid Film after install kept rust at bay over the salty, New England winter.

by:

I have a 2003 Xterra and needed a hitch/receiver. This fit my budget perfectly, as well as my SUV. You can do it by yourself in about 20 minutes. You do need to drop down the spare tire to be able to install the hitch receiver because the tire will get in the way. You can lift the tire back up and secure it properly after the hitch is installed.

by:

The fit on this was perfect, and the installation was a breeze thanks to the instructional video on etrailer. The price was great, shipping was free and fast.

The hitch has worked great! No issues. The paint is still shiny, too.

Great Video guides on how to install everything. Made installation a breeze. Super fast shipping was shipped day I ordered it! Got everything and well boxed everything in good condition. Great company to work with I usually dont leave feedback but these guys did everything right!. Thanks etrailer!

Great stuff and everything works fine, FYI you guys do a great job and your help videos really helped with me installing the hitch. God bless!

by:

Shipping was quick and easy. I live in a remote, tiny, rural town.
Installation went exactly as advertised. I noticed I needed a torque wrench and bought one ahead of time. They should have made more of a point of tools needed.
Hitch is totally solid!

Installed a year ago. A bit of work lowering the tail pipe, but the instructions were perf. Hitch is rock solid. Love it!

by:

The hitch fit perfect the first time and came will all hardware necessary to install. I haven't pulled anything with it yet but it looks beefy enough to to the job.

I also installed 118244 and 989900. Piece of cake.

by:

Fit like a glove. The install was a peace of cake. Shipping was speedy and free you can't beat that!

by:

Everything got to me fast, the installation was easy and quick worth the assistance of the online video.

The only issue that I I’m encountered was the exhaust pipe not clearing the hitch once installed and I imagine I am going to have to figure some other way to reattach it. You can see in the photo that its pressed up against the hitch and would reach its original attachment point.*** I suppose it is possible that this could be an aftearket exhaust since its a 2004 and Im not the original owner, but I dont know.

by:

On my 17 Year Old Nissan Xterra: At first I noticed an interference with the trucks exhaust tailpipe, but then realized the muffler was welded to the exhaust (NOTE: Factory OEM Mufflers were clamped). BUT NO WORRIES, there was still enough Adjustment Designed into the Curt Tow Bar!!

by:

Order this hitch for my 2000 Nissan Xterra after looking at the videos for installation of it and the wiring. The hardest part was getting the plug out of the wiring harness port on the truck (it had been there for 16 years). After that the plug snapped right into place. The hitch fit exactly like it was supposed to and was easily bolted into place. I need to get a deep 3/4" socket to finish the torquing but it's in is very solid. It'll tow our drift boat without any issues. The dealer wanted $400 to do what took me about 45 minutes all told from the time I backed into the garage until I was done. Shipping was prompt (and FREE) and the hitch was exactly as advertised. Thanks.

by:

The hitch was easy to install and easy to manage while installing it by myself. I watched the installation video and it was very cut and dry instructions. I had the my new hitch installed in no time. I will be buying the pigtail connector soon. So I can start using my hitch. It's a very solid construction and the hardware is very thick and sturdy. This thing is staying in place for sure. My best purchase yet for this vehicle. I still need thing and I will be a return customer.

by:

Yes I did receive the package on the date promised. Your on-line store and ordering system was easy to use - check out was smooth and I received confirmation emails as expected. I installed the hitch today on my Xterra and it was really easy as all the videos indicated. In my opinion, removing the spare tire will make all the difference. The video suggested to move the exhaust pipe out of the way. For my installation, this was not necessary, it took an extra minute to maneuver the hitch around the pipe. I did however encounter an alignment issue - the edge of the bumper prevented the hitch from lining up with the mount holes by ~1/8 inch. I used a pair of pliers to persuade (bend) the edge of the bumper just a hair - this took another minute or so. The wiring harness was a snap, remove the stock cover and connect the harness - easy. Attached is a picture of the completed installation.

Part is as described, fit well on my 2002 nissan xterra. Shipping was quick and on time.

Shipping box was damaged upon delivery but everything was there

  • How To Tell If a 2004 Nissan Xterra Has a Pre-Wired Plug For a 4-Way Trailer Connector
If your 2004 Nissan Xterra did not come with a trailer hitch then most likely it would not have came with the plug for the trailer wiring harness either but you can check this pretty easily by just taking a look under the bumper on the driver side for the four pin connector which you can see in the attached video. If you have this then great, you can use the Tow Package Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118244 for a plug and play install but if you do not you would need to use the Upgraded...

  • Removing the Spare Tire on a 2001 Nissan Xterra to Install a Trailer Hitch
In the cargo area of the 2001 Nissan Xterra, under the carpet, there are tools for accessing and changing the spare tire. One of these tools is the jack rod. On one end of the jack rod there is a T-shape. Insert that end into the oval opening located above the license plate in the middle. The rod goes in at an angle so if you are looking at the back of the vehicle the end of the jack rod you are holding will be closer to the driver's side of the vehicle. Then you will take the wheel nut...

  • Can Spare Tire Remain Mounted With Trailer Hitch Installed on 2000 Nissan Xterra?
The Class III Curt hitch # 13183 does have a limited lifetime warranty and there are no restrictions if you use it as intended, which means not to alter it or do something such as tow more than its 4,000 lb towing capacity. As for the spare tire on your 2000 Nissan Xterra, so long as it is the 17 inch spare tire, it will stay mounted in the original place after the hitch is installed, but during the install process the tire will need to be lowered or temporarily removed. • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2004 Nissan Xterra
I have a hitch that will work for your 2004 Nissan Xterra, but the Draw-Tite part #24773 is designed for a different vehicle so it would not work well for you. Instead the Curt Hitch part # 13183 would be a great option for you as it has been confirmed as a fit for your vehicle. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Will the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13183 Fit a 2001 Nissan Xterra with a 17 Inch Spare Tire
It sounds like you have the 17 inch spare tire on your 2001 Nissan Xterra. The Curt trailer hitch, # 13183, will fit if the vehicle has the 17 inch spare. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you. If you will be doing some towing, I recommend the etrailer ball mount kit, # 989900. It comes with 2 ball mounts, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a carrying bag. For trailer wiring, there are 2 options. If it came with a tow package use # 118244. If it did not come...

  • Can Ultra-Fab Motorcycle Carrier # UF48-979033 Carry 450-lb Bike on 2002 Nissan Xterra
In order to be able to use the full 500-lb carrying capacity of the Ultra-Fab Motorcycle Carrier # UF48-979033 you will need to use it with a vehicle and hitch that both have a tongue weight (TW) capacity in excess of its 500-lb rating. If either the vehicle or the hitch have a TW rating below 550-lbs, then you'll start to lose carrying capacity. For example, if your Xterra owner's manual said the TW rating was 600-lbs but your installed hitch has a TW rating of 500-lbs, then the lower...

I will be happy to clear up what all you will need to add the equipment to tow the trailer and activate the electric brakes. For your 2000 Nissan Xterra the Curt hitch part # 13183 would work well as as confirmed fit. However we do not offer any frame braces or anything similar. If your vehicle does require those you would need to contact a Nissan dealer for them. You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118244.
