Ellen: Hey, everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Gas Strut. This is going to be for really any kind of application where you would need a replacement for your gas strut. Maybe it's broken, bent, damaged, or it's just worn down and not working properly. This can have a lot of applications for boats, marine applications, or also on your RV, or other automotive applications as well.
This is a 17 inch long gas strut, and it has a 40 pound compression rating. It should be able to lift up to 40 pounds of pressure to hold that door open, so you can load in your gear, do any kind of maintenance that you need to do without that door opening or lid crashing down on you, and bonking you in the head, or causing other issues and injury. We can take a little closer look at our gas strut. This is going to be it's expanded length, which we get that length from measuring from the center of each of the attachment points, and that's where we get that 17 inches from. The attachment points are both going to be a 10 millimeter ball socket. Again, the compression force for this is 40 pounds.
You do have a little bit of adjustment, as far as the length, just slightly with this end. It is threaded, so you can run that out or in. It also allows you to change the angle between those two sockets, so you can get that dialed in where you need it to be. It's made out of a heat-treated steel construction, so nice and durable. It also has a corrosion resistant coating, so it won't rust.
Makes it great for even saltwater applications. Also, on our RV, a lot of times we encounter salt on the road, so it's going to be protected from all those elements. That's about all there is to it for our look at the Replacement Gas Strut. I hope this video has been helpful. If you need a different size or a different compression rating we do have other options available here at etrailer.com, so check them out. Thanks for watching.
We'll see you next time.
