Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your hood stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your hood to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at this Atlas Lift custom-fit hood gas strut. Now this is a custom-fit part. It is designed to fit the 2013 to 2016 Chevrolet Malibu sedan vehicles. And on a custom-fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and I'll show if this will work for your application. Now, if your vehicle's hood keeps closing while you're working on the engine, it's time to change out the strut.
This part here will replace one worn or damaged gas strut on your vehicle's hood. They use a dampening groove inside the tube, prevents bouncing, provides a nice smooth operation in any temperature, and it extends the rod out from the tube to open your hood and hold it into place. It'll compress the rod slowly to close the hood without slamming shut, and it uses an internal wiper to prevent sticking, reduces friction by lubricating the rod with oil. It is a quick tool for installation, connects directly to your vehicle's OEM fittings. This one here uses a connection type of a ball socket on each end.
Just wanna zoom in a little bit just to show you, there's the ball socket that that'll snap onto the ball and hold it into place. Does have a nice black powder-coated steel tube and a nitrate-coated rod, which is rust-resistant. It is for a quantity of one gas strut. Now the extended length from one end to the other, and actually length is gonna be measured from the center of the ball hole to the center of the ball hole here, so 25 1/2 inches extended, like it is now. When it's kind of fully compressed, measured from center to center, it's 15 3/4 inches.
One note I do wanna mention, you always wanna replace your struts in pairs where applicable, 'cause most hoods have a strut on each side. Failure you to replace both struts could result in a warped or damaged hinge.
