Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this custom fit hood gas strut. Now, this has been designed to fit your 2015 to 2017 Audi A3. Then your 2017 to 2020 Audi RS3 and S3s. Then your 2015 to 2016 Audi S3 sedan. On custom fit parts such as a strut, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.

Just pop in the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you. So this hood strut is a direct custom fit replacement that's designed specifically for your vehicle. It's gonna mount right up to the factory attachment points, so no modifications are gonna be needed. This is gonna connect to the existing OEM ball sockets, which means that installation's gonna be quick and tool-free. You're basically popping the old one off and snapping this new one into place.

Once installed, this is gonna safely lift and hold your hood open with this gas strut that's going to extend to about 29 and 5/16 inches. So all that to say, this is gonna give you a solid, reliable support while you're working under the hood, so you don't have to worry about it dropping unexpectedly. When you're ready to close the hood, it's not going to slam shut. There is a built-in dampening groove inside the tube that's going to control the movement, so the hood lowers smoothly and steadily instead of coming down hard. This is also built to perform consistently in both hot and cold weather.

The internal design's gonna keep the lift and closing pressure steady, whether it's freezing outside or the engine bay is hot. And to help it last longer, there's an internal wiper that's gonna keep the rod lubricated with oil. That's gonna help reduce friction, prevent sticking, and keep the motion smooth over time. Durability wise, this is made with a black powder-coated steel tube and a nitrate-coated rod. It's gonna help resist rust and corrosion, so it's gonna hold up well against the elements.

One final note, most vehicles have two hood struts, so one on each side. It's always recommended to replace them in pairs. So if you only replace one, the uneven support could possibly put stress on the hood and the hinge could cause it to warp or even get damaged.
