Video Transcript for Hands-On with the ComeUp Recovery Damper

Today we're going to be taking a look at Part Number CU881557. This is the Come-Up Recovery Dampener. The safety device is designed to reduce the possibility of injury or property damage in the event of a wire rope failure. It's going to be constructed of a heavy-duty material. It's going to be abrasion and tear resistant. Same thing in each side.

It does have the heavy duty hook and loop closures in two locations. You can see we've got the full strip on the bottom and then here up top we have another set of strips so the wire rope would run right here at the top of the dampener, then you would close it over the wire rope so it would connect here and then down at the bottom it would also connect. One of the other things I want to point out is that on one side of the dampener, you're going to have a large sleeve area. That way you can add some extra weight if you need to. Again this is going to sit over your wire rope and if your wire rope was to fail or if it was to snap or break, the dampener is going to force the wire rope down, because there's weight applied to it. It's not going to fling up.

You don't have to worry about it harming anybody or any equipment and it's just an overall great system to have if you wench with a wire rope at all. These are always going to be in handy and again, it's all about safety. We're going to have the built-in reflectors here at the top. Those are going to be located on each side. You can see that when it's empty and when it's not in use, it does fold flat, so it's going to allow for easy storage during transportation.

That way when you're not using it, it's not going to take up much space. In this setup, it's going to give us an overall measurement going this direction of pretty close to 20 inches and then going from bottom to top, that's going to give us a measurement of about 17-1/4 of an inch.
