Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your trunk lid stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your trunk lid to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Atlas Lift, custom fit trunk lid gas strut. Now this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1996 to 1998 BMW Z3 convertible vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend you go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year, model vehicle, and I'll show if this will work for your application. Now, if your vehicle's trunk lid keeps closing while you're unloading cargo, it's time to change out that strut.
Basically, you're gonna replace one worn or damaged gas strut for your vehicle's trunk lid. The dampening groove on the inside tube will prevent bouncing. Provides a nice smooth operation in any temperature. Basically, it'll extend the rod out from the tube to open the trunk lid and hold it in place. And it'll also compress the rod slowly to close the trunk lid without slamming shut.
On the inside of this tube, there is a internal wiper, which will prevent sticking, reduces friction by lubricating the rod with oil. And this is a quick tool for installation. Basically, it'll connect directly to your vehicle's OEM fittings on each end. And the connection type on both ends is a ball socket design. It does have a black powder-coated steel tube, a nitrate-coated rod, which is rust-resistant.
It is for a quantity of one gas strut. Few measurements on this, when this is fully extended, the length is gonna be 8-7/16 inches. When it's fully compressed, 5-5/8 inches. Now one note I wanna mention, always replace your struts in pairs where applicable. Most trunk lids will have a strut on each side.
Failure to replace both struts could result in warped or damaged hinge. Now also, if you have any additional questions regarding this gas strut or any other item that we carry, please feel free to reach out to us so that we get you all your questions answered for you. But that's gonna do it for a look at the Atlas Lift, custom fit trunk lid gas strut.
