While this kit has everything you need to get your towed car wired and ready, you'll still need some gear to get moving. To connect to your RV's electrical, you'll need an umbilical, and you'll need to make sure the plugs on that cord match the ones on your RV as well as the 4-way that's now on your car. If your RV has a 7-way, C57271 is a great option.
Something else to think about is whether or not you need a brake light relay. If your car's brake lights illuminate when the engine is off, you'll need to install a relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) to make sure the brake signal overrides the turn signal sent by your RV when you're slowing down to turn while towing.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at this Blue Ox Easy Light Tow Bar Wiring Kit for the Chevrolet and GMC SUVs. Now this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2010 to 2017 Chevrolet Equinox and the GMC Terrain vehicles. And on a custom fit part like this, I do like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model vehicle, and it'll show if this will work for your application. Now, when you're towing a vehicle behind your motor home, you're gonna need a way to get the tail brake and turn signals from that RV to the vehicle to be safe and legal. This kit here is designed to plug into your factory connectors on your vehicle to connect the electrical signals from the motor home to the vehicle.
And this is a complete plug and play option for your vehicle. So the installation of this kit, it's pretty quick and easy. And it is a complete kit, includes everything laid out here on the table. It's all the hardware and the installation components you're gonna need, including detailed instructions. It'll come with this converter box that has the connectors attached to it, and the four-way wiring.
Comes with this four-way flat mounting bracket with the hardware. Basically, when this four-way runs to the front of your vehicle, instead of just having your connector hanging there, they give you this bracket that'll install in and hold it into place. And again, the hardware's included to install the bracket, comes with the four-way dust cover that you can put on your four-way that when you're not using it, you can cover those terminals to protect them from elements or from any damage. And it comes with some terminal grease that you'll wanna put on all your electrical connections. Comes with some cable ties to take up any slack in the wiring.
And it even comes with a grounding screw, 'cause if you look on your four-way, it has this extra white wire with the eyelet that needs to be grounded. If there's a ground nearby, you can use it. If not, you can use that included grounding screw. But basically when you go to install this, you're gonna go to the rear of your vehicle and you'll start on the driver's side and you'll take the connector that has the yellow wire in it and you'll go behind the tail lights and plug this into the connections behind the tail lights. And then you'll run this length of wire that has the green wire in it, which is for your passenger side.
Run this over to the passenger side, do the same, plug this in behind the tail lights, and then take your length of four-way wiring and that'll run all the way to the front of the vehicle. Once you get to the front of the vehicle, as we've mentioned, you'll take your mounting bracket, install it, put your four-way in there, make your connection. Again, if you wanna use your dust cover, you can put that on there. But again, when you do make these connections, you do want to use terminal grease on all the electrical connections.
