The EcoHitch Invisi trailer hitch is designed to be completely out of sight. The hitch cross tube bolts onto your vehicle's frame, behind the body of your vehicle. No drilling or welding is required. The receiver portion of the hitch will sit just behind the factory knockout panel in your bumper. Just pop the panel off to tow and put it back on again for a from-the-factory look when you're done using the hitch.
With a combination of aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, each EcoHitch is made of a strong metal alloy that will stand the test of time. The lightweight alloy is composed of recycled materials. Traditional steel hitch manufacturing can use coal or oil, which can contribute to harmful gas emissions. The EcoHitch's recycled materials limit the carbon footprint during manufacturing, so you get a sturdy trailer hitch while also helping the environment.
This EcoHitch trailer hitch is tested for durability and sturdiness. Using Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), individual points of stress on the hitch can be detected and remedied. Designers can accurately test the hitch to ensure that it will meet or exceed SAE J684 standards. The EcoHitch Invisi trailer hitch is carefully researched and strength tested for a durable, high-quality hitch that can resist damage while on the road.

This completely hidden, custom-fit hitch installs behind your vehicle's factory knockout panel. Aluminum and steel alloy construction is durable and eco-friendly. Powder coat finish resists rust.Bought this for use with a bike rack and a flat platform for extra luggage. I could have gotten away with the smaller receiver for the bike rack but 2" is better for stability of a platform. I only took a star off because of the price, it's definitely overpriced for what it is. My car scrapes the airdam down my driveway as is, I worried about a hitch mount any lower. It's plenty sturdy, probably overkill considering the mounting points are the weak link here. etrailer has a nice video on installation. A couple things I did different. When relocating the sensor behind the plate, I used some mounting tape for the left side and it is nice and stable. In the video they just yank off the right mounting stud and leave a hole in the body; Yikes. I preferred to trim down the stud. It doesn't need to be flush, just slightly shorter. For the bumper cutting, unless you already have 4" & 3.5" hole saws and an arbor, that is an expensive investment for tools you'll probably only use once. Better served buying an oscillating tool, you can get nice, straight, clean cuts. If you start the top of the cut right below the "bump" that the wire harness mounts to, you can leave it as is. Lastly, IDK what the point of the flip down plate holder is. A quick [online search] says it's not legal to drive without your plate visible in my state, I can't imagine where it is. Instead, I got two 3/4" nylon spacers and 1" 1/4-20 screws. I can transfer the plate to my bike rack when I use the hitch, the holes happen to line up perfectly with existing holes on my rack.
The video and written instructions were easy to follow. Took me about 4 hours. As suggested in the video - I wanted to give myself more room for the hitch pin, so I used three 4" holes to widen the space behind the license plate up front. I'll clean up the hole after the bike arrive and I have the hitch pin.
The absolute best part of this product is the installation video. It is the difference between feeling like you can do it yourself versus needing to take it to a shop. There are a number of tricky installation aspects that are no longer tricky when you learn about them in advance by watching the video, which is very thorough. In the end, my hitch turned out great, and it works very well for my intended purpose (bike rack). It's awesome to have it hidden behind my license plate because I think exposed receiver hitches hanging low on cars (especially a Volt) look like a compromise compared to how they look on an SUV. Thanks for making a great product along with a great video.
I just installed it this week-end. Once bumper and lights are removed, its very easy to install :) It just fit! Take care to know every little secret part that is holding your bumper to avoid breaking any plastic. Watch the video and go slowly. I did the work with my dad. Being two helps a lot. Can't wait to try it :)
Solid/tough hitch, but difficult to install. That being said it's the only solution for a 2 inch hitch on a gen2 Chevy Volt. Need to cut away much more bumper than shown in video in order to access the hitch pin, if you have large hands. Make sure to install the license plate bracket to access by folding down rather than up, or else hitch accessories won't fit the rear view camera get's in the way!
Works great, it is a little difficult to reach the hitch pin and the safety chain connections but that is to be expected with this style of hitch. It was a straightforward installation and the directions were very easy to understand and accurately written. No one believes me when I tell them that my volt has a hitch!
Awesome product. It was time consuming but not difficult to install thanks to etrailers installation video. We installed the license plate kit upside down and we can still use our backup camera.
If you are patient, handy, have basic tools and a place to work, you can install this yourself like I did. I drop the license plate to the bottom two screws when in use. Otherwise the plate hides the receiver. This above bumper location also yields great ground clearance. I haul two heavy E bikes with a Hollywood rack. Perfect hitch for the Volt.
I wish I had never seen this option for a 2" hitch for the 2016-2019 Volt. Finally got around to installing it today and ran into all sorts of questionable design issues. From the RF sensor that now hangs off a single stud inside your bumper, to the exhaust bracket which will deform the captive nut mount on the blind side because there's now a 1/4" air gap to close up, to the chain mounts hidden WAAAAAY up inside your bumper. The biggest issue remains the integration with the license plate bracket. The provided flip up kit interferes with the backup camera present ON EVERY VEHICLE. Not sure how this was overlooked. You can trim the bracket to clear the camera, but you'd have to trim away half your license plate to get that to clear. Which means you're stuck pulling your plate off every time you want to use the hitch anyway. The kicker is that the receiver is about 1/2" too long to actually be concealed below the original plate mounting without riding on the receiver itself. So you're still stuck using the flip kit, or other shims, to move the plate outwards for clearance. There's very few scenarios I can think of where you need a 2" hitch on this vehicle. I mistakenly bought the EcoHitch thinking it would be a cleaner, sleeker install. That was not the case. And let's not forget, this is a $[XXX] hitch! For around $[XXX] you can get any number of 1 1/4" hitches with cleaner more useable installs, including the OEM option. Save yourself the time, money, and headaches and go with one of those.
The EcoHitch fit my 2017 Chevy Volt perfect. The printed instructions were nuts on! The Video also was a great help. The sales, and support staff at etrailer were terrific in helping me to install this hitch. I'm 70yrs and my wife installed the hitch and the wiring in under 3 hours. That included the time to watch the instruction video. I did remove enough of my bumper behind the license plate to provide access for the hitch pin. I am also going to install a place to hook the trailer safety chains. So I will probably end up pulling my bumper off 1 more time. What can I say? My wife and I make a great team. Thanks etrailer!
I bought this hitch for my Chevy Volt to carry a couple of heavy eBikes. It was the only product I could find that appeared to be able to take the weight and fit my car. The hitch looks very well made and fitted perfectly, the instructions made the process simple (not quick but if you follow them the process is very straightforward) and I love the fact that the flip up license plate bracket makes the installation completely invisible.
I had to cut out an area of the lower bumper facia to make for access of safety chains to the "eyes" of the hitch. I primarily use the hitch to carry a platform for hauling a lawnmower...though I also have a small 4x6' trailer. Installation instructions were excellent. And the wiring for a trailer was easier than I expected...not having to splice as on another car installation I did 20 years ago.
A well designed custom hitch, easy install concealed and functional for the use intended.
Excellent product. Instructions for installation of the license plate holder was insufficient.
