You're charging an RV battery over long cables and the controller misreads voltage. This sensor measures voltage and temperature at the battery and wirelessly shares it with Victron MPPTs, so charging reflects actual battery conditions.
When the charger is farther from the battery, cable resistance can skew the voltage reading and charging behavior starts drifting from what the battery is actually seeing. This sensor fixes that by measuring battery voltage directly at the battery terminals instead of relying on voltage at the charger. Because it sends that terminal-level reading to connected Victron MPPT solar chargers, it compensates for cable loss and charging tracks actual battery conditions more closely in day-to-day use.
Battery charging changes when temperatures swing, and guessing wrong can create problems in cold or hot conditions. This unit measures temperature at the battery terminals and shares that data wirelessly so connected chargers can apply temperature based charging adjustment for lead acid and lithium batteries. It also includes lithium battery protection that disables charging when batteries are too cold, so the system reacts to the battery's actual temperature instead of a fixed assumption.
In a battery bank with more than one charger, inconsistent readings from one device to the next can leave charging behavior out of sync. This sensor uses the VE.Smart Network based on Bluetooth Smart to share battery voltage and temperature data with one or more solar chargers on the same battery bank. With one sensor feeding multiple connected chargers, the system works from the same battery information instead of each charger reacting in isolation.
Upgrading charging accuracy usually gets expensive once you start replacing major hardware, especially in an existing setup that already works. This unit adds wireless sensing in a compact package with battery terminal eyelets and a self-adhesive mounting strip, so installation stays focused on the battery rather than a full system swap. It works with 12V, 24V, and 48V battery banks and communicates wirelessly up to 10 m, giving you a cleaner way to add battery-side data where it counts.

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Smart Battery Sense Temperature Sensor for your Victron MPPT Solar Chargers. So you can think of this as like a small add-on that's gonna help your Victron charging equipment make smarter decisions about how it charges your battery. Normally a charge controller measures voltage at its own terminals, which can be a little off because of wiring losses. This smart battery sense is going to fix that by measuring voltage and temperature right at the battery itself where it actually matters.
It then wirelessly sends the information via Bluetooth to compatible Victron devices like your MPPT Solar Charge Controller using Victron's VE.Smart Network. So because batteries can charge best when voltage and temperature are accounted for accurately, with this sensor in place, your system's gonna be able to adjust charging in real-time based on true battery conditions, which is gonna lead to better performance, more accurate charging, and longer battery life. You can mount this with the adhesive that's already here on the back. You'll just peel this film back to expose that adhesive. Lemme go ahead and give you some measurements here.
So looking at the width, we're sitting right at about one in 5/8ths inches wide. The height, about one in 5/8ths inches tall or so, and the thickness, about 5/8ths of an inch thick. So this is going to be compact, it's gonna be easy to install, and this doesn't require extra wiring between devices since it communicates wirelessly. So if you're already using Victron equipment and you want to fine tune how your batteries are charged, especially in solar setups, this is gonna be a simple upgrade that can make a noticeable difference for you. If you happen to have any other questions, whether it's about this or anything else that we have here to etrailer, don't hesitate to reach out.
