Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a look at this Replacement Storage Bin for the Lippert Underchassis Double Bin Storage System. Now, this part will replace one storage bin on that Lippert Components Underchassis Storage System, that's part number LC236558, and that storage system we do sell separately on our website. And just wanna show you pop up this insert, you can see that's one of the bins, it's sliding out of that storage system. That storage system is designed to mount beneath your trailer or your RV chassis, and then as you can see, the bins slide out one on each side. This bin here is one of those same bins that comes with that storage system.
You can see when you open your lid here, gives you access to your supplies, your tools, your equipment that you're storing beneath the RV trailer. These bins do slide out one on either side of the RV, they're easily accessible, has a nice hole here in the lid. You can see that lets you easily open the lids. And when you do slide these out, they do come all the way out for use in your garage set or at a campsite. They are durable plastic construction, have a nice sturdy rib bottom.
If I turn it over, you can see the ribs on the bottom. Now, when this does slide into the storage unit, these holes right here on the side, there's one here and one right down here and the same on this other side. This is where they, when you slide it in, they're spring loaded steel pins that are on the storage unit, and it'll latch these bins to the unit's frame to keep them locked into place. And then you slide it in on the rails right here. This'll ride right on those metal rails right here, and it slides into the storage unit.
And then as we've mentioned, the pins lock it in place, keep it from sliding out. Now, a few specs on this. The weight capacity is a hundred pounds. It is for one storage bin. Give you the dimensions on this, overall length from one end to the other, it's right at 48 inches long.
The height of it is going to be right at nine inches tall, and then the width on this, I just wanted to show you because it has that section that slides on the rails, so the width, you're going to have a bottom width like right here, which is 16 3/4 from here to here, and the very top is a little bit, 18 3/4 for the top width. But that should do it for the review on this replacement storage bin for the Lippert Underchassis Double Bin Storage System..
This is not a Plug & Play storage bin for the Lippert Undercarriage Storage System!
This is a great idea until you try installing it. Unfortunately for me, it’s been the worst item I’ve ever purchased from eTrailer.com.
After removing your original storage bin, this new longer bin will only go part way in. An inner bracket that’s welded inside the channel needs to be removed before using this unit.
If your system is already installed, it’ll be easier to remove everything and do this anywhere else than from under your RV. Once you cut the square tube cross member out, you need to grind smooth the inside of the channel.
Even so, this bin wouldn’t slide into the channel because the molded box has deformities that need to be ground smooth. Initially, I couldn’t install more than about 1/4 of this bin before it jammed.
It took A LOT of grinding with a coarse flap disk on an angle grinder to get it to fit properly.
Not wanting to be defeated, I worked on this box for several hours.
Not a recommended purchase unless you’re willing to put in tons of labor.

I’ve ordered from etrailer.com many times over the years and continue to be impressed with their excellent customer service and support. That’s why I wanted to leave an honest review regarding this particular product. Part of the issue was admittedly my mistake. The product description listed the compatible model by part number only and did not clearly spell out the model name, which made it easy to order for the wrong version. Once I discovered that, I was still able to modify the mounting bracket without much trouble, and based on the listed dimensions, the storage bin itself should have fit the framework just fine. The real problem was that the injection-molded plastic storage box arrived significantly warped. Because of that, it would not properly slide into the mounting framework and required extensive sanding and trimming with an angle grinder flap disk to make it usable. With the bracket modification alone, this install would have been straightforward. Unfortunately, the warped bin turned what should have been a simple adjustment into a much larger project. That said, I still think very highly of etrailer and their customer service team. I simply hope this feedback helps improve quality control on the molded storage bin itself and perhaps encourages clearer model identification in the product description to help others avoid the same ordering mistake.

Sorry to hear about all your troubles with the install, Chuck. Do you know if you specifically had the Lippert Underchassis Double Bin Storage Unit for RVs - 99-1/2" Long # LC236558? I think it is very specific to this part number.
