Note: Tie-down anchors must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the anchors being used. It is recommended that you always use anchors in pairs.

Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Brophy D-Ring Tie Down Anchor w Backing Plate and Hardware

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Brophy d ring tie down anchor with backing plate and hardware, part number RR8K. This sturdy d ring creates a stable tie down point for your truck bed or trailer. The beveled edge won't interfere with your wheel cargo the included backing plate allows it to have a two hundred and sixty-five pound safe working load limit and eight hundred pound break strength. It features an inch and a half opening on our d ring so we have plenty of room to run our straps through. It's made out of a sturdy steel construction with a zinc plating so it's going to resist rust and corrosion. It's perfect for securing rope, bungee cords or even ratchet straps, all of which are available right here at etrailer.com. Now that we've got all the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. We've got two holes drilled out.

Let's go ahead and set it in place. We'll just take our hardware and put it through. Then we can go underneath and attach our backing plate. We're bringing our backing plate, we're going to use the two holes that match up with our bolts. Then we'll bring in a lock washer and bring in one of the nuts, get that started. Then, without holding it in place, do the same for the other side.

Then we can tighten it down. Now, on tightening it down, it's not a bad idea to get an extra set of hands to hold the bolt in place on top. Looks like our anchor point is secure. Let's go ahead and tie down our cargo. That's going to complete our look with the Brophy d ring tie down anchor with backing plate and hardware, party number RR8K.

Service and shipping was excellent. Installed them today.Watched the video and had no problems. Tie down anchors were just like they were describe. I don't think I will have any problems hauling my bikes. The price was great and they come with all the hardware. I plan on doing more business with e trailer.

Good quality product all the hardware i ncluded

I bought these D-ring anchors for my flatbed trailer. They were super easy to install and have been working great. I would definitely recommend for anyone who needs to add anchors or add additional anchors to their trailer. My trailer sits outside year round and these still look like the day I installed them and function perfectly.

Wow! A great product delivered with great service. I bought these tie down anchors to replace the four original anchors in my enclosed trailer. The originals were soft steel or aluminum, and within a year had bent or stretched at key stress points, becoming unreliable. The pictures don't do these anchors justice. They are high quality, stout, heavy steel anchors with an equally heavy backing plate with quality hardware. Installation was easy following eTrailer's video. And, they shipped immediately. I couldn't be more pleased with the product and the experience.

Heavy duty D rings with great under floor reinforcement plate!

by:

This is an awesome product !!! They were easy to install & work very well.I love the fact that they are recessed on my trailer bed so they don’t create a trip hazard & they look good.I would definitely recommend them to anyone that wants a quality, safe product.

Hold downs came last week and I installed the yesterday. The only problem was that the mount holes aren't square. The bottom plate only fits one way, and of coarse it wouldn't fit where I had it. Cut the plate and everything is fine. I mounted them in the corners of my race trailer to hold everything in place going down the road.

by:

I am very satisfied with this product. It was easy to install especially with the installation video on Youtube. It has worked great so far.

by:

These anchors are excellent come with all hardware and are easy to bolt up thanks to the the carriage bolts. You will need a 3.5 inch hole saw. I got a cheap [store] hole saw and installed these in 3/4 plywood. These are very heavy duty.

by:

These tie downs worked great for my side x side tie down. Excellent quality and corrosion protection. Would highly recommend them to everyone. Great delivery service and in a timely manner. Thank you!! Andy

by:

Shipped in a timely manner, as always with you guys. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because these D-rings did not come with any installation instructions, to state that the holes were not square. I had to turn one of the backing plates 90* because of an interference with a bulkhead in my toy hauler. The holes are so close to being square it was hard to pick up on it. Once I discovered that they were not, I trimmed the backing plate to fit, and turned it back 90*, and holes lined up and finished the install. Overall, good product.

I have had 4 of these on my utility trailer for almost a year and they work great. I have tied down everything from a 4 wheeler to a small utility tractor with a loader on it and they hold great. The backing plate makes all the difference when mounting in wood.
I have also carried several loads of compost and there is no corrosion on the tie down ring or the housing.

by:

Added these to the snowmobile trailer so that we could use it to tie down other items. Work great and we’re easy to install. Bought and sprayed a undercoating to protect my investment further.

by:

Seems quality built. Installed 8 on my 16ft trailer. Had to kinda get the hang of drilling. Would recommend cutting your 3 1/2 hole, then put the top tie down in, then drill one bolt hole and put the plate on the backside, tightening down one bolt and nut. Try and even it out between top piece and bottom piece, then drill another hole for another bolt and nut. I tried drilling them all first and it didn't work as well.
The tie downs will strap ATV's onto a trailer.

Bought 4 of these recessed tie-downs with backing plates to secure my Ural Gear Up while transporting on my trailer. Very pleased with the price and quality. These tie-down points are heavy duty, and the installation video on the etrailer.com website was very helpful. I will shop trailer.com again!

First time using etrailer.com. I used these tie down rings on my flatbed dirtbike trailer. Great product! Comes with all the necessary hardware to install. etrailer's videos and technical write ups make for an easy install. Fast shipping. Thank you etrailer!

I ordered 6 recessed D-rings Monday evening about 8 Pm. They arrived Wednesday morning 10. I live in Northern Wisconsin, That's awesome timing and its just standard shipping with UPS. The installation was good, just make sure you watch the video- It helps! It was easier after the first one - I used a 3 1/4 hole saw, went down to 3 3/4 in. deep. Then chisel it out to the 3/4 mark.
Helpful Hint ---- I used about 1 1/2 hole saw (take the drill out of course) then you use the hole saw in a circular motion to clean up the 3 1/4 hole down to 3/4 deep.
The 4 carriage bolt holes make sure these are straight.
But you can exceed the 3/8 drill size to give you some wiggle room. Which you will need to get the D-Ring straight.

I will use etrailer.com again and again! Very very excellent product and service!

I like the tie-downs. I have a trailer with 2x8 boards covered by a sheet of plywood. If the length of the threaded rod were 1/2 inch longer that would be better. Also, why do you call it 1/2 diameter when the threaded rod is 5/8-11?

by:

Extremely well built and solid anchors. I was missing a bolt from the kit, and etrailer quickly sent me a replacement. great service, great products.

Was looking for an anchor tie down that was flush on the trailer and easy to put on. Didn’t need anything super heavy duty works perfectly.

Installed on 2002 Triton XT-10 open placed trailer. Just replaced the decking and needed some upgraded tie downs. Decided upon these after much research and liked the idea of the surface mount to tie down for my 2 ATV's. Hardware appears to be heavy duty. It was well packed, all parts in tact and easy assembly. The plates provide good re-enforcement and prevent the bolts from driving thru the new decking. Just installed a few days ago. Have not had a chance to use them yet, but so far impressed with the product.

  • Cargo Tie Down Recommendations for 5x8 Enclosed Cargo Trailer
Between the three cargo tie-down anchors you referenced, parts # RR2K, # RR8K and # RR09, I would go with the # RR2K because it includes the reinforcing backing plate and because it offers you the choice of recessed or surface mounting. Since your cargo items just need to be secured inside the trailer, but not have their full weight held, these items should be fine. I can offer you another option to consider, one that might better suit the trailer and cargo items, but that will be up to...
