Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load.
The gunwale (side edge around the boat) provides important tie-down points for securing your boat to your trailer, usually just aft of the midsection. This gunwale strap is intended to be part of a boat tie-down system, and it should always be used along with a bow strap and a set of transom straps, for safe trailering.
A tie-down system is only as strong as its weakest link. Heat, humidity, and salt from road treatments or ocean spray all contribute to rust, which causes the hooks and buckles in most tie-downs to weaken, seize, and possibly break. The stainless steel components in this Kwik-Lok gunwale tie-down provide maximum corrosion resistance. No more hard-to-open buckles or rusted hooks. In other words, no more weak links.
The Kwik-Lok buckle on this gunwale strap can be easily opened and closed with one hand, which simplifies the process of tightening the strap down. To release the strap, simply pop open its buckle. Then pull the strap through and snap the buckle down to close it. The sturdy polyester strap is woven through the over-center buckle. So once the buckle is closed, it will help maintain tension on the strap, keeping your boat more firmly secured than a strap with a standard cam buckle.

Strap is well constructed and the buckle is very heavy duty. Much better than the ratchet strap I was using. I like that the buckle is on the top side near the middle instead of right on the side of my boat needing a lot of padding to keep from damaging the fiberglass. It's much easier to use than ratchet straps too. Just pull up the slack, snap the buckle down, your done.

As usual, fast, courteous service. Boat Buckle kwik-lok gunwale tie-down strap is a simple, excellent way to prevent sway while trailering my boat. Attach to trailer, go over the gunwale and attach to other side of trailer. This is a old school product I have not seen in twenty years. E Trailer is the only place I could find it.
