Hi everyone, Aidan here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to replace this pull pin for your Dutton-Lainson swiveling trailer jacks. This is gonna be the part that allows your jack to pull loose and swing up to the side whenever we're hooked up to our vehicle, giving ourselves more ground clearance whenever we're driving down the road. So as far as functionality goes, this is certainly an important part to the jack and if it's broken, you're definitely gonna wanna fix it because it's going to keep it locked in place and secured. The installation and the replacement process is gonna be pretty straightforward and this piece comes with all the hardware you need. Let's check it out.
I'll show you how to get it removed. Depending on how broken yours is, yours might already be off, but if it's not, you can take some needle nose pliers and straighten out the arms on this cotter pin and get that pulled out. You will have to be kind of fighting against this spring right here, so it may help to get an extra set of hands on that or just work it off and rotate it out of the way like that. Now once that's free, you can just take this pin and pull it straight out. Everything else should fall to the ground.
Now at this point, your jack is going to be just kind of moving freely on its own. So if you're at the proper height for it you can kind of get your knee to hold it in place while we get everything else put back in, the new handle with the spring. And then also our new washer. We want that on the backside. So we've got the bracket, the spring, the washer and you're gonna have to push this back and drop our new cotter pin in place to hold the spring under tension.
You can see the hole right here where the cotter pin will drop through so make sure you have it pushed back far enough. Now it may help to push on the cotter pin with some needle nose pliers or to see if you can tap them in if they seem like they're getting bound up. But basically you want them to be passing through to the other side. Just give 'em a bend to keep 'em in place and test for fun. Everything's looking good right there.
And one final thing is that your kit does come with this rubber cover. That's just an extra little touch that this one got as a bit of an upgrade that it didn't have before. And the installation is complete. And then I'll do it for our look at and replacement of this Dutton-Lainson pull pin for your easy swivel jacks. Thanks for watching.

Nice and solid. Works great.
Purchased to replace a lost pin from a different manufacturer. Pin was a bit long for my existing jack but simply sawing off about 1/2" made it work perfectly
The handles are stronger than the original one's we will be buy more in the future
Was a 1/4 longer than I needed but after cutting it off it works great!!
Was fast shipping and communication was on spot. Thanks
Bought this after reading the Q&A advising it is a replacement for a failed Shelby Pin. It is not a perfect replacement; the straight section is 3/8" to 1/2" too loing. Fortunately it is a quick fix with a Dremel metal cutting disc. The etrailer shipping is great even for the modestly priced item.
etrailer had just what I needed, a replace pin (kit) for my trailer jack that was broken. I got my package delivered and was up and running in a reasonable time. The washer was larger than the original and made it much easier to install.
I froze my trailer jack into the snow and when I tried to ease it out, I snapped off the end of the pin that locks the jack into place. This is a great replacement kit, easy to install and of quality stock. It was far more reasonably priced than a whole jack replacement.

Great, no issues and I use the trailer all the time.
Needed a replacement pin for a trailer tongue jack. It is old, so no exact parts were available. This part worked well. The washer that limits travel is of a lerger diameter, so I had to grind a flat section on it to clear the mount, otherwise it works well.
The pin I received was 1/2 inch in diameter, the one I needed to replace was 3/8". I drilled a larger hole in the receiving bracket and rotating plate and the jack now works as before.

Fine
The only thing I would suggest is to list the diameter size of the pin. I received the product and noticed the diameter of the replacement pin was larger then the original. With a little ingenuity I made it work.

The diameter of the pin is 1/2 inch, as mentioned in the product description.
Got it in time. I ordered the wrong size but was able to make it work with the larger hole in the jack plate. Like the beefier one any how.

Works great thanks
A good replacement , just had to cut 3/8” of the end
I needed a pin for an off brand trailer jack. the description on the website made it easy to pick this pin. It fit great, just a little too long but I fixed that and it is working great.
The name was Keith not James, and thanks for looking up all that info for me earlier, the product did work but the spring was slightly to long and I couldn't get the cotter pin in the hole. but I swapped it with the old spring and made it work, so as of now it is doing what it supposed to do.
Just what we needed, we had been looking around town for this part and it was no where. They said we could replace the part by buying a whole new trailer jack. Sad that we live in a disposable world like this. So happy to have found the part we needed.
Once again the Service I received was excellent in every areaand extremely fast delivery. Thanks you very much to all involved.
I used this on a Bennington pontoon boat trailer equipped with a Shelby jack. I lost the original somewhere and needed a replacement. Had to cut a little off of it to make it work. The jack now works perfectly.
Fast shipping, great price and product was as described. My original part had a 3/8 inch pin that snapped off: the new item is 1/2 inch pin which is much more sturdy. I just had to drill out existing holes on stand to allow pin to slide in. The new pin is now better than the original.
eTrailer performed well in providing exactly what I needed to get the job done.

Excellent quality, working well.
Product was as described & pictures were spot on. I received it extremely fast & it fit my wood splitter jack perfectly. Friendly people.
I have been extremely satisfied with everything I have purchased for e-trailer. You are the first place I go when I need something, you have it all
Great price with REASONABLE shipping costs. All other online retailers had about the same price but the shipping was triple or more than etrailer.
The order came when promised and I was able to install it with no difficulties at all. It appears to be a decent quality pin. I would recommend the company and product for anyone needing a replacement.
Perfect fit and match to the original part. Didn’t have to throw out a good working jack.
Perfect fit. Looks solid.

Holding up well after one year of use in saltwater. No rust.
Pen is a larger diameter than factory so it will stand more pressure on the Jack
