Video Transcript for Checking Out the Snap-Top Battery Box with Strap for Group 24 Marine Batteries

Today, we're going to be taking a look at Deka's Marine Group 24 Vented Battery Boxes. Here we have our battery boxes. They are designed to work with 24 group batteries. You can see our lower portion is going to be completely sealed. So no battery acid can escape, and it's going to keep your battery nice and safe and protected from the elements as well as keeping wherever you're installing it protected from the acid that could potentially leak outside of a defective battery. On the lid, we do have vents on the top.

So in the event that our battery leaks, depending on the type of battery we have, whether it's just a regular lead-acid, we need to vet those normally, for normal operation. Or if you've got an AGM or lithium battery where you need to keep it vented in the event of an overcharge or an emergency. That will just sit right on top.And you have access points on each side for your cables to go in and out of. And the lid latches down tight with the side plastic latches there, which keeps your battery completely contained. And I like the way that the lid goes over the top of our bottom box.

So if this was installed on the outside, if you had some moisture, it would just run off. The only place that it could enter would be in the small vent holes there. Now to where you're going to be putting these boxes, I do have some dimensions for you so you can pick the appropriate location. The boxes are going to measure on the outside from 14 and a quarter inches across, nine and three quarter inches wide, and 10 and three quarter inches deep. And you do want to keep in mind that your lid does sit on top and the access for your cables sticking out the sides here is going to add just a little bit.So you may want to give yourself just a little bit of extra space.

I would plan on at least a half inch of extra space on each side than what the dimensions of our boxes here. Included with your box, you are going to get a hold down strap, and this is what you'll use to secure your box to your trailer. You could run some self-tappers and stuff down in the bottom, but I don't necessarily recommend this unless you've got very low profile heads on the bolts you're using. Because the battery is going to sit on this raised plus section here, but we don't want the batteries to ever touch any screws or heads because that could potentially wear a hole in the bottom. So unless you have something that's going to make sure that it ensures it sits below this raised section, I would use the strap that comes included with it.And another reason I recommend using the strap is if you ever need to take your battery out, you can take it out with the entire box because let's face it.

You're not really going to take the battery out unless there's something wrong with it. And if it's an older battery, there's a good chance. It was leaking some battery acid. So rather than lifting that battery out of there, you can take this whole thing out with all the chemicals contained inside, clean it out and properly dispose of the battery and then put the whole assembly back in. Our strap is going to fit in the groove located on the bottom. So we're just going to set it down there. So you go ahead and bring them in on the inside. And the strap is going to be held in place using the hold downs that come included with your box. So we know our box is going to be sitting in about this location here.So we're just going to kind of line it up where we want it. Give ourselves a little bit of extra room there. And we're just going to take the strap clamp here. And we're just going to line it up on our box, where we want it to sit. I'm just going to hold it in place there, and we can move this out of your way. And we're going to secure that right to the wood, using the included screws. Now, if you we're going into a metal surface, you may need to switch from the included screws to self tapping screws. But if you're going to be bringing to wood, just like we are here or a softer surface, these will work out just fine. Now that we have this set up, we're just going to set the box back in place so we can find the appropriate spot for the one that goes just on the other side. And we're going to run it down with the self-tapping screws there. We'll do, just like I did in the front where I set it over the strap. I'll move the box out of the way and run it down. Okay. Now that we've got both of our straps tightened down, we can put our box back into place and then we can set our battery in and start hooking it up.We're going to be doing a dual battery system though. So I'm going to go ahead and get this box installed here, before we start wiring up the batteries. Now that we've got our batteries fully installed, we can go ahead and put our lids on. You just set in place, you do need to move your cables to the openings here for it to fit in. And you can see how we've got the cables poking out the openings there and just push in on the locking tabs to hold it in place. We're going to do the same thing with our other box here. Now that everything's nice and tight, we can take our straps and just run everything through the end here. And we're just looking to tighten it down to where it holds our battery in place to keep it from moving around. And that's pretty darn secure right there. You're not going to get it to where it's not going to move at all, but it definitely isn't going to be able to rattle around and move out of its spot. And that completes our look at Deka's Marine Group 24 Vented Battery Boxes.

I think this is one of the best companies that I have dealt with. I recently received a damaged solar panel, called them and they immediately resolved the problem and later that same night I noticed they had already shipped out a new one.
The customer service is THE BEST!!

Highly recommended

Thank you

Exactly as described. Quality seems good for the price.

by:

Haven't installed it yet, but my MAXX 24F Battery fits really well and the box fits in my trailer toolbox.

by:

Fast shipping and great battery box.

by:

Only drawback is no screws/mounting hardware included. Small inconvenience. Otherwise, well built and definitely worth the price!

by:

Great little battery box very pleased with it would definitely recommend it to somebody else that needs a nice quality box ship really quick

by:

The mounting brackets aren't going to do much if the battery feels the need to propel itself in a hurry but they'll do the job in locating the battery box and for the money, you can't argue with this deal.

by:

  • How to Install Lights In a Enclosed Trailer And Upgrade the Breakaway Battery To Power The Lights
Not only can it be done it is actually much easier than you might think John. First for the battery you want to select a deep cycle battery like the # BRW34FR. This will need to be stored in a Box # DW03009 to protect it from the elements. You can simply connect it using the wiring you already have to your breakaway battery as this receives a charge from your tow vehicle when connected and will recharge the battery then. For the lights you can select either Switched Lights # RVILL34 or...

  • What are the Inner Dimensions of the Replacement Clamp-On Battery Box # TK2018
The Replacement Clamp-On Battery Box, # TK2018, is going to be too small for your batteries. It measures approximately 5-1/4 inches across, 3 inches wide, and 4-7/8 inches tall on the inside. Instead take a look at the more cost effective box # DW03009. The inner dimensions are 10-3/4 inches long, 7 inches wide, and 8-1/4 inches deep. Installation hardware is also included with this box.

  • What are the Options for Adding a Trailer Battery Box to a Trailer
We do have several battery boxes, but none with the exact dimensions you have listed. We have smaller break away battery boxes like the Replacement Battery Box for Breakaway Kit, # 34420215, which will accept a battery that is 3-1/2 inches x 2-3/4 inches and 4 inches tall. And the Hopkins box you have referenced is 5-5/8 inches Wide x 5-1/8 inches Tall x 4-1/8 inches Deep. But we also have larger battery boxes which I have listed below. I went out to the warehouse and pulled the Vented Battery Box, # DW03009, and produced a short video showing the dimensions of the box for you, see link. The inside dimensions of the box with the lid removed are 10-3/4 inches long, by 7 inches wide at the bottom of the inside of the box, and 8-1/4 inches deep. The overall outer dimensions of the battery box are 14-1/4 inches long, by 9-3/4 inches wide, by 10-3/8 inches high, with the lid on the box. You may also be interested in the...

  • Battery Box that would fit a PS12-BS Battery
Based on the dimensions you listed the closest match we offer is the part # DW03009 which has inner dimensions of 10-3/4" long x 7" wide x 8-1/4" deep. It would be much bigger than you need, but it would fit your battery. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

I do have an option for you but the replacement breakaway battery boxes that you were looking at like the Replacement Battery Box for Titan Gel Cell Breakaway Kit part # TN65117 are designed for specific breakaway batteries. Therefore, a better option for you would be to purchase a matching breakaway battery and box, like part # TK2023 and part # TK2051. The Curt Battery Box for Breakaway Kits part # C52090 may work for you as it measures 5-7/8" long x 3-1/2" wide x 5-3/8" tall but again...

  • Can a Battery Charger be Used to Charge a Deep Cycle Battery While Using Lighting in a Trailer
Yes, you can use the NOCO Genius Battery Charger and Maintainer # 329-GENIUS5, to charge a battery while using the lights in the trailer. One thing to keep in mind is that the battery charger will not be able to keep up with the lighting use in the trailer and the battery will eventually be drained if the battery is already severely depleted. It will not harm the charger. A better option is a charger that has a supply mode. The CTEK MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Universal Battery Charger w/ Pulse...

NOCO Battery Box # 329-HM300BKS is a good option. The interior dimensions are 10-1/2" long x 7-3/16" wide x 9-5/8" deep. It doesn't have a metal bracket for mounting though. The boxes that have metal brackets are either too small for your battery size or they are custom made to fit specific vehicle frames. I would go with a box over a tray because a box will better protect the battery.
