Video Transcript for Review of Derale 40/60 Amp Relay - D16764

Today we'll be taking a look at the Derale 4060 amp relay. This allows you to run your electrical fan even if it draws more than 10 amps. This is going to have a 25 amp continuous power but it can handle surges up to 40 or 60 amps. It has the five-prong design on the bottom and you can see that we have some little embossed there to help make it easy to match those up with our wiring diagram that the relay comes with.If you have a wiring harness that this just plugs into you'll just need to match up those prongs and plug it right in. But if you're actually wiring directly to the harness, we'll have an 87, an 87A. 87, 87A, 30 and then an 86 and 85.

On the side we'll have a little diagram printed on the relay as well and then at the top there's a small hole so you can attach this with a self-tap in screw or a zip tie as needed.Just for reference, give you some measurements here. It's about 1-1/8 inch wide and about an inch deep. With that little tab at the top it's about an 1-1/4 inch. Then the relay stands about an inch. With the tab on top it's about 1-1/2 inch tall.

This does not include the wiring harness. You will need to pick that up separately. And this does come with a one-year warranty from Derale. And that's going to do it for our look at the Derale 4060 amp relay.

Had just what I needed. Shipping was quick, only took a few days. I have an electric fan that kills these relays from time to time so I'm out of comission without a replacement.

  • Replacement 4-Terminal Relay to Repair a Dual Electric Fan Assembly
As you probably know there are different types of relays. Relay # TR38665 is a 4-terminal relay but it may or may not work for your application. You may actually need to replace the wiring harnesses as well. Using kit # D16765 is an option. It includes the wiring and the relays. It may be the thermostat or temperature probe that is the issue and not the relay at all. If the thermostat is malfunctioning or the wiring to it or the probe is not in tact then it will not know to kick on or off.
