Hello neighbor, this is Curt with etrailer, and today we're gonna be taking a look at the wheel locks for your Hollywood Racks Cross Track bike rack. Now, this is a pretty ingenious way to secure your bike to your cross track. It's gonna be made of a stainless steel, so it's gonna be corrosion-resistant when you leave it out in the elements. It also comes with a really nice dust cap over the lock just to keep any corrosion from happening inside there. The operation of it is really very simple. So what we're gonna do is utilize some of the adjustment holes that we use for the different tire sizes on our cross track.
So we're just gonna simply feed this through here. We wanna make sure it's going through one of the holes that's gonna feed beneath the wheel, and then we're just gonna secure it in place just like that. Remove our key, put on our dust cap, and this is how this is going to secure it. It's basically gonna keep the wheel trapped inside of the clamp. So even if I try to deploy this and open it, it's not going to let me because it's gonna run into the inside of your wheel.
Now, I would think that this is really more of a theft deterrent. Whenever a thief is after your bike, they're actually after the frame so you might ask yourself, what would happen if I, you know, removed the wheels and somebody took that Well, that could take a whole lot of time, especially the rear wheel with all the gears and chains that you have to manage. So I would think that this is an excellent choice if you're going to be, say, going into the store or grabbing dinner, something like that while you've got your bike on the rack. If I was gonna stay somewhere overnight, I would probably double up the security by adding a cable lock as well. I think it's really important that you get a set of these locks for each of your bikes.
I would wanna keep one on each wheel as just that extra bit of deterrent, and I would also get one for each bike that I would be carrying with me. So all in all, I think this is a really, really good theft deterrent. It's an inexpensive way to keep your bike really secure. It's just, again, I just wanna reiterate that I would, if leaving it overnight, put some extra security on it with a cable lock as well.
