Today we're going to be taking a look at part number DRT9. This is the Kuat Dirt Bag bike rack. The fork-mount bike rack is going to provide simple options for carrying one bike. It's going to work only with bikes that have quick release nine millimeter front wheel skewers. Really simple though, the front forks of your bicycle are going to drop down on this portion here and then you secure the bike to the Dirt Bag by installing the skewer that is on your bicycle. This will accommodate bikes with standard or disc brakes.
The versatile fork block is going to mount to almost any flat surface such as a track bed, trailer or a cargo carrier. The base is going to feature two holes for an easy installation. Your mounting hardware is not included. We would recommend using quarter inch or six millimeter bolts or screws with washers, lock washers and lock nuts. It is going to come with some instructions. It's going to show you how to get it mounted, how to use it and it's going to provide a drilling template.
The Dirt Bag is made from a sturdy steel construction. Its going to feature a nice black powder coat finish so its going to resist rust and corrosion. Very strong and durable, it's going to last a long time. It's going to have a capacity of one bicycle. Taking a look at the mount hole spacing here at the bottom measuring center on center, the distance we have between the two holes is going to measure two and three quarters of an inch. The overall length of the base here is going to measure about four inches.
The overall width of the base is going to give us a measurement of about an inch and a quarter and then the overall height of the unit that's going to give us a measurement of about one and seven eighth of an inch. The Kuat is going to cover this with a lifetime warranty and again its a one bike capacity. It's going to work with bikes that have a quick release nine millimeter front wheel skewer. That's going to do it for today's review of part number DRT9. This is the Kuat Dirt Bag bike rack.

I bought this to mount my Trek Xcailbur 9 in the bed of my pick up truck. It mounted very easily on the crossbars that I purchased for my GMC sierra. It has worked very well on long trips and short trips.
The product was great. but the service was even greater! 2 days (and a 4th of July holiday) before transporting my expensive bikes in the bed of my truck, I realized my homemade rig wasn't going to cut it. Panic! I got online with etrailer and found a part I wanted at 7PM, but needed overnight delivery. Whew, I got the order in. But, oh wait - I get an email 10 minutes later that the part I asked for was backordered. Panic ^2. But the email from eTrailer said call us NOW and we have a possible solution. Yeah, right. So I call, and - they did! Talked to real humans and they set me up with a substitute part that did the job and I had it on my truck next day. Totally awesome. Real people rock. Thanks to eTrailer, I had my bikes with me in Idaho and Oregon and Washington where I had to play my music gigs. Love you guys, and thanks for being real people!
Works great. I have a F-250 with a tool box in the bed. My axle racks are mount on the tool box lid. Well make.
Rating - Excellent
The bike rack was exactly as represented. We can now carry mountain bikes with the thru-axle setup easily and securely. The service was excellent and delivery was prompt. We need to buy a trailer hitch for another bike rack and will certainly use etrailer again.
I used a few of these fork mount options to build a truck bed bike rack. They've been excellent and were easy to work with(also budget friendly.)
I found that the 100mm width worked well with some 3-d printed adapters I made to fit wider forks as well(that way I have more flexibility.)
Would highly recommend.
Worked great I called ask for advice on what dro
Get they sent it in the mail the next day great company
I use this in the back of my truck to hold my mountain bike. See attached photo. Works great. Paint starting to chip off around the screw holes. Not a big deal.
Easy. I made the coolest rack ever. I didn't want to drop $300 and have the the bikes so high up on the roof. I came across these and enough said. best ever. My 1978 VW couldn't be cooler. All my Bus friends are jealous. They dropped the $300-ish, and now want my rack. My son and I bike throughout CO. too cool.
Thank you for the product and excellent service.

I added these to my existing Yakima bar so I didn’t need an adapter for the new road bikes. There great!
PS the photo is on my Thunderbird convertible.
This is perfect for custom applications. I used this mount on a piece of plywood that fits in the back of my SUV. Simple, basic, exactly what I was after.
Perfect fit! I mounted it to a 2" x 6" for transport in my SUV on trips. Unfortunately the handlebars are too high so I will still end up removing both wheels but now it will be stable. etrailer was only place I could find this size at a reasonable price.
Disappointed. The Kuat Dirtbag works, and feels relatively solid once installed, but is about 2-3 mm shorter than my hub. That means while loading and unloading the fork doesn't sit nicely on the rack and inserting/removing the thru-axle can be quite challenging. I'd heard great things about Kuat's products, and all I can say is I'm glad this one isn't as overpriced as the rest of their lineup.
That mount is the perfect solution for us. Our previous bikes had the older skewer axle mount, so I had to re-drill the base to match up with holes in bed rail. FantomWorks of Velocity TV fame fabricated and installed threaded plates under the bedrail so it made the swap quite easy!
Thanks!!!!!
Few retailers sell the 15mm x 110mm (Boost) thru-axle mount let alone stock it. etrailer had it and sold it for less the manufacturer. Their economy shipping got it to me (Missouri to San Diego) in under a week. I didn’t want to drill into my truck bed rails so I connected to an existing tie mount via an aluminum angle (see pics). Heavy duty steel construction. This mount will definitely outlast my bike. I’m pleased with the product and etrailer’s service.
This product worked great for me. I needed something for the back of my truck and this was very versatile and allowed me to just bolt it to a 2x8 in the bed and mount my bike very securely. This price was very reasonable with fast shipping.
This is a great way to transport a bike. Just bolt the dirtbag to a surface and attach the fork. I have mine mounted in the back of our minivan and regularly transport my mountain bike inside the van. The dirtbag comes in sizes to fit most fork configurations. I have a through axle for my tandem bike, 100mm for my mountain bike, and now the 110mm for my 29+ mountain bike. They all have the same hole pattern so I just swap them out depending on which bike I am transporting.
Cheap alternative compared to having to buy a 9mm thru axle mount for the utili-track in my Nissan Frontier AND THEN having to buy an adapter for that! For under $10 I bought some parts from a local hardware store and made this mount fit the track. It's sturdy, and high quality.
This fork mount worked for mounting my Lectric XPeak 2.0 e-bike inside my van. The hole through the mount is sized for front axle of e-bike. The distance between front forks of e-bike is 5.900 inches so I bought nylon unthreaded spacers with 1" OD 3/4" long, 5/8" screw size to slip over axle and put on ends of fork mount to get correct length. Works great!
Nice looking product but they sent the DRT9P. Contacted them and they are correcting it ASAP
Product received quickly, even received a phone call while order was being processed to assure me that order was on the way. Product was more substantial and well made than I expected for such a low price.
Installed bracket in pickup bed the same day it arrived and used it to pick up our two Trek bikes with quick release. Solid! Even the Trek technician was impressed. Said he’d recommend this product to others. Drove 100 miles home in stiff wind. Bikes were locked in solid.
These simple fork mounts worked great to convert my hitch mounted cargo carrier into a bike rack for my Jeep Wrangler. These lack the locking feature I like about my Yakima roof mounted bike rack since they just use your existing skewer to hold the bike. It's a minor inconvenience to remove the skewer from your wheel. Quality is good, shipping was fast and the etrailer.com price could not be beat. This option saved me hundreds of dollars over a hitch mounted multi bike rack.
