If you want your setup to look factory clean when you’re not towing, this kit makes it easy. The completely hidden design keeps the front end smooth with no bulky brackets showing. The removable arms twist out quickly, leaving behind only small receivers that can be capped with the included covers to keep out dirt and debris. That way, you keep a finished, seamless look whether you’re on the road or parked at home.

Getting connected shouldn’t be a hassle. Each arm inserts into the base plate’s receiver and locks in place with a twist so you can secure it fast and confidently every time you tow. When you’re done, pull the pin, twist, and lift out the arms—it’s that simple. The setup keeps the process quick whether you’re solo or helping someone else hook up for the trip.

This base plate bolts directly to your vehicle’s chassis—no welding required. The solid steel build is powder coated to resist rust and corrosion, while its sturdy design spreads towing force evenly to reduce stress on suspension components. It’s a dependable setup built for serious miles and repeated use on long hauls.
The integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector bracket (sold separately) so your wiring stays neat and functional. The sturdy lugs pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure and reliable connection, and it’s adaptable for use with Roadmaster (RM-031 or RM-031-5) or Demco (DM9523041) tow bars when using the correct adapters. With a bracket distance of 32-1/2" and height of 13", it fits cleanly into most towing setups.

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.
