If you want your setup to look factory when you’re not towing, this base plate keeps things sleek. The completely hidden design leaves no bulky brackets past the front end, and the removable arms give a clean, seamless look. When the arms are off, plug in the included receiver covers to keep dirt out and protect the sockets for smooth hookups later.

Connecting your tow bar doesn’t have to be a chore. Each arm slides into the receiver and locks in place with a quick twist, then secures with a pull pin. When you’re done towing, just pull the pin, rotate, and remove the arms. It’s quick and clear-cut for one-person hookups in any spot. The distance between brackets is 22" and bracket height is 14", so it pairs precisely with your setup.

This base plate bolts directly to the chassis with no welding required. The heavy-duty steel design spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on your suspension and frame. Powder-coated protection keeps rust and corrosion away through miles of weather and road grime, giving you steady confidence for long trips.
If you already have a tow bar you like, this kit fits right in. It pairs directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a solid connection. It’s also adaptable for use with Roadmaster or Demco tow bars—just add the correct adapter (RM-031 or RM-031-5 for Roadmaster, DM9523041 for Demco, sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket (sold separately) so everything stays tidy up front.
This kit is designed for a simple install at home with basic tools. It mounts securely to your chassis using the included hardware—no welding needed. The clear layout means fewer fitment surprises during install, so getting ready for your next trip feels like knocking out a solid weekend project instead of a full rebuild.

I am glad you were able to get it installed with no issues and a little help from our video! What kind of coach are you pulling the Kia Soul with?

Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Thanks for the detailed review Chris, and the pointers! This will be most helpful to others. What was your favorite stop in those 7,000 miles? Where did you go, what did you see?

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

It has been a good system. I would still give it 4 stars a year later just because it was a difficult job to install. Not for the faint of heart. So far have about 6k miles of towing with it. Would I do it again….Yes as it was worth the effort.
