When you’re pulling thousands of miles behind a motorhome, you want a setup that feels rock solid. This Blue Ox base plate bolts straight to the chassis—no welding required—and spreads towing force evenly to help prevent stress on the suspension. The durable steel construction with a rust-resistant powder coat keeps everything rigid and trustworthy over the long run. If you like your vehicle to look normal when it’s off the hitch, this kit makes that happen. The completely hidden design leaves no bulky brackets sticking out once the arms are removed. Each arm pops out with a quick twist and pull of the locking pin, and you can plug the receivers with the included covers to keep dirt and debris out. No shin-banging hardware in sight—just a clean, factory-style finish until it’s time to tow again.
Connecting is straightforward and repeatable. The removable draw bars slide into the receivers, twist to lock in place, and secure with a single pin. It’s a simple system that makes getting ready fast whether you’re doing it solo or in tight spaces. When it’s time to unhook, just pull the pin, twist back, and stow the arms until next use.
This base plate works directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure link between your motorhome and towed vehicle. It also adapts for use with Roadmaster tow bars using adapter RM-031 or RM-031-5, and with Demco tow bars using adapter DM9523041 (all sold separately). Integrated mounting points make it easy to attach an electrical connector plug bracket so your lighting stays organized up front.
For anyone who likes wrenching on their own rig, this kit is approachable. It bolts securely to existing chassis points using the supplied mounting hardware—no welding needed. Its been two years since installation of the Blue Ox Baseplate. Since then, Ive flat towed the CRV from NJ to FL and back three separate times with many other shorter trips in between. Paired with a Blue Ox Tow Bar, the system has worked flawlessly since installation.

Follow up. Ive put about 8000 miles on the setup and its been great. A 34 ton suburban pulls nicely behind my Dutch star, and they dont have a steering lock so its nice not to have to retrieve keys when stopping for the night. I have used the safety cable attachment a few times for straight line pulls with a small shackle when working as a rally racing volunteer, its been fine but I wouldnt side pull on it.

Not only does this baseplate allow us to tow the vehicles behind our motorhome, but it give us peace of mind when were driving them, knowing that we are more protected from front collisions with that massive baseplate attached!
