Features to know about

Handles Serious Loads: Up to 36,000 lbs Towing Capacity

When you’re pulling heavy equipment, boats, or large campers, you need gear that won’t flinch. This adjustable 2-ball mount is built from solid steel and rated for up to 36,000 lbs gross towing weight when using the 2-5/16" ball or 12,000 lbs with the 2" ball. The thick 5/16" channel plates and 1/2" welded gusset keep everything rigid, even under full load. It’s a setup made to handle real weight without compromise.

Keeps Your Trailers Level: 5-1/4" Drop and 5" Rise

Towing different trailers often means dealing with mismatched heights. This mount solves that with a fully adjustable design offering up to a 5-1/4" drop or a 5" rise. The ball platform slides up or down the channel and locks in place with sturdy pins and clips, so you can dial in the perfect height for each trailer quickly and confidently.

Built to Last: Solid Steel with Matte Black Powder Coat

Road grime, salt, and weather are no match for this mount’s finish. The solid steel construction is protected by a matte black powder coat that resists corrosion trip after trip. With laser-cut channel plates and a CNC-chamfered shank that slides smoothly into the receiver, this mount is built for long-term use without chipping or peeling at the edges.

Simplifies Switching Between Trailers: Dual-Ball Platform in One Mount

No need to keep swapping mounts every time you hook up a new trailer. The welded dual-ball platform gives you both a 2" and a 2-5/16" ball in one piece—just pull the pins, flip it over, and lock it back in place. It’s quick, straightforward, and ready for whatever you’re towing next.

Secure Connection Every Time: Heavy-Duty Pins and Clips Included

Each pin and clip is heat-treated steel with a nickel undercoat and zinc topcoat for strength and corrosion resistance. They lock the ball platform securely in the channel so your hitch stays steady mile after mile. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference in keeping your setup tight and dependable on every haul.

Video Transcript for All About the BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount for 2-1/2" Hitch

Hi, everyone, Aidan here at etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at this BulletProof Hitches Adjustable Dual Ball Mount. Now, this is going to be one of their smaller drop sizes. So if you have a vehicle between 12 and 18 inches of ground clearance, measured from the ground to the bottom inside edge of the receiver tube, then this could be a good fit for you. Let's check it out. It's going to be designed for 2 1/2 inch hitches, so just make sure you pick this up for the right vehicle.

And this is part of their Extreme Duty line, which just means that this offers the heaviest weight capacity in their line of ball mounts. The 2 5/16 inch ball up here is going to give you a gross towing weight of 36,000 pounds, that's how much weight it can pull. And for the two inch ball on the bottom, if you wanted to swap to that, that can give you a 12,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. Now, as for the vertical load limit, the whole thing, regardless of which ball size you're using, is going to be 6,000 pounds. So just make sure you're not overloading the ball mount.

But with this being really highly rated, I'd say the limiting factor is probably gonna be your truck. So just make sure you check out what it and the hitch can handle, and go by the lowest rated component in your whole towing system. And the big advantage to an adjustable ball mount is the ease of adjustment. So we've got ours kind of in the level position right now, but it's very easy to just pull the pins and drop this down to whatever height we might need. So if you're the type of person that's towing multiple trailers and you wanna make sure that they're all level, based on the different truck and trailer combination that you've got going on, then it's gonna be easy to do, and you don't have to swap to a whole new ball mount just to get a different drop size.

Now, in the bottom position here, we're getting a maximum drop of 5 1/4 inches. And you can get a maximum rise of five inches out of it if we we're to completely remove it from the receiver tube and flip the whole assembly upside down. Now, it's important to note that these pins here are included with this. You can upgrade them to locking pins down the line if you want. And I would maybe recommend that considering that this would maybe be kind of a pain to replace.

You can if you want to, but I prefer just keeping it locked up and safe. And the whole thing does not come with a hitch pin and clip, so you will need to pick up one of those separately. And again, I would strongly recommend picking up a locking pin, just because then, it keeps your investment safe. So if you take this out of the hitch, one thing I do wanna point out is the fact that there's gonna be two hitch pin holes. So the reason you might use one over the other is if you need additional clearance. And we'll get some measurements later, going from the innermost. But if you need to get an extra inch and a half of clearance, you could always go to this outer hole here. And I'll go ahead and flip this upside down right now. And because of the solid shank here, the whole thing is pretty darn heavy, so just keep that in mind, and if you're looking at a bigger drop size, it's gonna be even more weight. So just some things to think about when you're picking this up. (pin clanking) In this position, let's take some measurements. We're gonna be going from the center of the hitch pin hole, and again, that's the furthest in hitch pin hole. So from there to the closest point on the ball mount, this reinforcement gusset here, is gonna be 4 1/2 inches. And that'll let you know if you've got clearance with your receiver tube and if there's enough room on the outer edge here to maybe add something like an anti-rattle device. That'll really help to take this kind of shake and play out of the ball mount, reducing the noise you hear going down the road. And from that same point to the center of the ball here is gonna be 11 3/4 of an inch. And that'll let you know where your trailer coupler's gonna sit, and relatively how close your trailer and truck are going to be to one another. Again, if you need extra clearance, you can move it to the outer hitch pin hole and gain an additional inch and a half. Some things to note about this that also make me really like it is the wide range of accessories that BulletProof Hitches offers. Anything from pintle mounts that can convert this to work with a lunette ring trailer to a step to maybe help you get up into your bed or even a receiver tube attachment to attach something like a bike rack, which for your 2 1/2 inch hitch is actually something really convenient to have. But it's all about how you're gonna use it. If you don't have any need for those accessories, then I might recommend something like a B&W Tow & Stow, because that one, the ball assembly can flip around backwards and be out of your way and not be such a shin kicking hazard whenever you're not towing. A lot of people around the shop like them, and we see a lot of those out in the real world just getting used day to day, because they're easy to leave in the hitch all the time. But if you do plan on using those accessories or you just like the BulletProof Hitches ball mount, then I think it's gonna be a really solid option for your 2 1/2 inch hitches. Thanks for watching.

Great hitch on my sons F150.

by:

Very good quality for the price. It's perfect for what I need (a roughly 4.5in rise for a 3800lb trailer).

by:

I am totally shocked by the weight and quality of the product. Not even one scratch on the finish. It shipped from Illinois to Dallas in only 3 days for free. Now I know why they are called BulletProof. Perfect for my lifted truck. I wished I had gotten this a long time ago!

I purchased the 2-1/2" Bulletproof Adj Ball Mount for my 2019 RAM 2500 (Laramie, 4WD, 20" Rims&Tires, Off-Road Suspension) to have 1 mount for various trailers. This replaces various 2" mounts used on my 01 Silverado 2500. This is one serious, substantial piece of equipment! Heavy, good welds, nice powder coating! Pix compares this mount with a 7500# 2" Draw-tite mount. Nothing wrong with the Draw-tite, but no comparison in mass.
Some measurements, if interested: Truck: inside top of Receiver: 25" above grade. Bottom of mount without balls: 9-3/4" above grade (clearance). With 2-5/16" ball up: At lowest point: Top of Ball: 17" above grade. bottom of 2" ball: 9-1/4" above grade (clearance). At highest point: Top of Ball: 26-7/8" above grade. With 2" Ball up: At lowest point: Top of Ball: 16-1/2" above grade; bottom of 2-5/16" ball: 8-3/4" above grade (clearance). At highest point: Top of Ball: 26-1/2" above grade.
etrailer shipped quickly, only in original box from Bulletproof, with no exterior shipping box, but box was completely taped, so package arrived in good shape.
1 minor complaint: no pin included for securing mount into receiver.

So far I am extremely happy with this hitch. It is very heavy duty. My towing capacity has changed and needed to upgrade to a heavy duty hitch. I have no doubts this is going to be Bulletproof!! It is very well built and a solid shank.

I need a solution for my BMW SUV to tow my boat and trailer with two ball sizes and very different height requirements. This worked perfectly. The name Bulletproof fits well - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and engineering.

by:

Great hitch, and great experience with etrailer. The shipping was fast, and everything was packaged nicely. I even put the sticker on my truck window.

by:

I have bulletproof hitches on all my vehicles. The quality is awesome and won't use anyone other than etrailer for my towing needs.

by:

Very high-quality hitch! The shipping was FAST!

by:

Fit truck and trailer better than expected. Pulls heavy trailer very well. That is why I bought locks to try and keep the hitch from being taken.

by:

heavy duty that’s for sure. packaging was excellent and no chance of it getting damaged in transit. Its got some weight to it so that’s good.Powder coating is nice. Its definitely getting the job done.

by:

Rust starting to show and coating has worn off. Rep suggested this drop length and it is definitely too much even with my 2500. Not a product flaw a customer service flaw

by:

The product was delivered as promised and I have had the opportunity to try it. I'm very happy with it. Some reviewers complained about noise, so I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet my connection was especially compared with my previous hitch. I am very confident that will me meet my towing needs!

by:

Not my first time dealing with Etrailer and definitely not my last. Easy ordering and on time every time. Hitch is built very well exactly what we needed to tow our skid steer around. Seems very solid compared to otehrs we looked at.

Thanks etrailer.
