Video Transcript for Andersen Rapid Hitch 2-Ball Mount Feature Review

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be talking about Andersen's Rapid Hitch. Now, the one we have in particular is gonna be one with an eight inch drop. This will be perfect for anyone who is pulling a lot of trailers behind you and you really need to mix and match your rise and drop so you can ensure you're properly hauling, making sure you have a smooth transition when you are pulling that trailer behind you. And we also gonna have two different size balls, even if you have different size couplers. Now, if you have any experience with this, let us know what it's like and if you do decide to go with it, tell us how you're using it and what type of trailers you're pulling behind you.

So one of the biggest appeals to this ball mount is just gonna be how easy it is to just maneuver and use because it is gonna be made from aluminum. And if you ever need to change what positions it's sitting at, it only has one pin. A lot of times, these don't have two pins to 'em and you have to remove each one individually. And just that transition between all these different locations feels relatively pretty smooth. Once you lock in or find a spot, you can just push that pin back through here.

There it is. And it'll hold it into place. You can also flip it around, too. Take this out like that, and you can switch out which ball you plan on using. And that's where that kind of heft really comes into play is when you're flipping it around.

Now, in some cases, you're gonna need a rise, especially if you got some larger trailers that sit up a little bit higher. Then you'll just have to pull this pin and clip. I will say the pin and clip doesn't come with this ball mount, so you could actually find a set on our website that best fit your needs. And when I take this out, this is pretty lightweight. Usually, a ball mount of this size is gonna be pretty hefty.

So if I just flip it around like this, it's gonna be pretty easy to put in there 'cause we have this kind of angle to it. That angle's gonna allow me to easily fit this through here without too much of a fight, and then I can secure it down with my pin and clip. What's really nice about this, too, is the increments you can adjust the ball mount by, and these are gonna be in inch increments. A lot of times, you'll see ball mounts in two inch increments, so that's just something that you can really get a lot more customization out of. Now, when it comes to the balls, we're gonna have a two inch ball in the very top here. And then on the other side, we're gonna have a 2 5/16 ball. Now they're gonna have different weight capacities, so the one on the bottom, that two inch one, is gonna be rated for 8,000 pounds for towing, and the 2 5/16 is gonna be rated for 10,000 pounds. They will have a same tongue weight, though, and that's gonna be at 1500 pounds. Really what the difference between your tongue weight and your towing weight is that towing is gonna be what's being pulled behind you, the total weight of the trailer. Your tongue weight is gonna be the downward force that's being applied directly to the ball. Now, in my opinion, I think this is a pretty solid option for the reasons I said earlier. It's just a really easy ball mount to use, especially with how lightweight it is. So if you're constantly switching up between different trailers, I think this would be a great option.
