Today we're going to be taking a look at FloTool's GRIPTECH Adjustable Band Oil Filter Wrench. From FloTool's, we have our band-style filter wrench here. We're going to be using it to take our filter off. What's nice about this band style is that it has a universal size here. Because of the band, it also has several notches here. We've got four different notches for your beginning size, for your varying filters that are out there. This filter is particularly used on spin-on style filters like the one that we have here. What's also nice about this is that it has a flexible handle, because sometimes your filter's in a weird place, and you need to turn that handle in order to get to it just right.
Especially being able to turn it and keep your knuckles away from anything sharp. Because you don't want to hurt yourself while you're doing the job. It's adjustable between 2-3/4 and 4-1/4", for the diameter of our filter. So we'll have no problem getting it on our filter here. There's a non-slick rubber grip here on our band, as well as on our handle. So we know it's not going to slip on the filter, and our hand's not going to slip off, causing us to potentially hurt ourselves. To use it, you're going to want to slide it on.
Now, this only works in one direction, so you've got to be careful which way you put it on. As you can see here, we want to go counter-clockwise to unscrew it; you see how we go counter-clockwise and it gets tighter. That's what we're looking for; we're looking for a counter-clockwise motion, to make the wrench get smaller. So we're going to put it on like this, put on our appropriate size, and then unscrew our filter.Once you've got it broke loose with the wrench, you can do the rest by hand. You never want to use your filter wrench for tightening your new filter bock up.
Always put the new filter on by hand.Of course, you're going to want to wait until your engine oil is drained, or close enough to being drained, where you could position your drain pan underneath your filter, because it is going to leak some as you take it off. That completes our look at FloTool's GRIPTECH Adjustable Band Oil Filter Wrench.
