Does Kuat Sherpa Bike Rack Secure Bikes to Rack Well

Question:
I’m interested in the Kuat Sherpa hitch bike rack. I’m a little concerned about The security of the rack where the wheels sit on the rack. Have you heard of anyone losing their bikes coming off the rack? I’m coming from a Thule XTR rack where the bikes are very secure but the rack is quite heavy. I like the Sherpa because of its low weight. Thanks

Hey Lars, that's a really valid concern but the straps of the Kuat Sherpa part # SH22B secure the wheels really well and we have not had any issues with bikes falling off of the rack. As long as you put the bikes on the rack properly (which isn't hard to do) it will easily stay on. The rack will be a lot lighter that what you have now too as it only weighs 32 lbs. What kind of bikes do you have?

Hey Lars, how did things go with the Kuat Sherpa rack and the wheel straps? It’d be great to hear if the lighter weight still gave you the secure hold you wanted compared to your old Thule rack. Your update could make it easier for others choosing between the two.
