Rebuilding Brakes on a EZ Loader Dual Axle Boat Trailer
Updated 09/29/2025 | Published 05/06/2025 >
Question:
I have a ez loader dual axle boat trailer. I bought it used and was told the brakes don’t work. Today I pulled off the wheel and discovered the brakes don’t work because they are gone… just the rusty hub. The only positive was that the bearings, bearing buddy, and the grease all look brand new. The wheels are 15 inch 6 hole on 5 1/2 inch centers. I believe the axles are 3500 lb the backing plates have 5 bolts holding them on. The lines are shot The 7500 lb surge brake actuator is shot. Would love to save some money by rebuilding g it. 2 5/16” ball Bolt holes are 5 inches apart Tongue is 3x5 in tubing I am looking for options to get her to stop again… Thank you for your assistance.

Hey Charles! I would be happy to help you rebuild your trailer's braking system but I am going to need some specific information like part numbers and/or measurements to find you the right parts.
What kind of brakes do you have disc or drum? If you could find part numbers on either the caliper or hubs I can find you some replacement brakes or pads. Are the rusty hubs salvageable? If you have to replace them, I'll also need the part numbers on the sides of your bearings.
If your goal is to rebuild that actuator, I need to know which one you have so I can look up replacement parts for it.
As far as brake lines go. How long is your trailer? We've got plenty of brake line kits but I need to know how long of a kit to recommend for you.
