Supplemental Braking System Recommendation for 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon

Published 02/26/2025

Question:

Hey Jameson, We have a 2019 Wrangler Sport that we have flat towed since it was know. I also now have a 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon that we want to tow and get rid of the Wrangler. Like the Wrangler,, I want to be able to connect the tow bar to RV,, plug it in and go,, with brake kit wired in. What is it that we need for the Gladiator. I’d prefer the inertia type braking vs the air brake Air Force One type. Thanks, Bob

Hey Bob, sounds like the Demco Stay In Play part # SM99251 is the best solution for a supplemental braking system for your 2021 Jeep Gladiator as this is a permanent install style that uses an inertia sensor to determine how hard to apply the towed vehicle brakes. Of this style of braking system it is our installers favorite because of how well it works and how much easier it is to install compared to other options.

What tow bar brand do you have now? Best solution for a base plate kit will be based on that. Once I know that we can get you setup with everything else you'd need.

@BobT Nice! Then for the correct fitting base plate kit you'd wand the part # BLU53FR.
