Can Slide Out Motor In 2024 Jayco NorthPoint 382FLRB Be Safely Upgraded?

Question:
I have a 2024 Jayco NorthPoint 382FLRB and love the camper but the one thing is the kitchen slide. The slide has a Fridge, Oven, Microwave, and cabinets on it and Jayco thought making it a in- wall slide system instead of ram would be best. When doing so they put the 300:1 motors on it and by the 5th time opening the slide one went out. I replaced with the same 300:1 motor and now the 4th time opening since the replacement and I need to replace again. I have talked with some rv techs along with my own research and was thinking about swapping them out for the 500:1 motors since the slide is sooo heavy. Would this be the correct move? Or will the brackets in the walls not be able to handle the higher torque motors?

Hey Austin, thanks for reaching out. I do agree that a motor with more torque should help the situation. The motor would not be working as hard to move the slide, so it should last longer. It sounds like this slide is holding a lot of weight, so if there is any way to reduce the weight, I am sure this would help too.
As far as the strength of the brackets and the walls, I'm afraid I don't really have a way to answer that. Only Jayco would be able to give you specifics as far as what their brackets can handle. I have a feeling Jayco might not condone using a different motor, but you might not have a choice.
