Question:
I would like to convert my ST205/75R15 tire on my RV to a truck tire. I have had 2two blow outs so far on my RV with these tires. I plan to increase the load capacity as well. My problem is that a taller tire will not fit in the wheel well. Any suggestions?

Some RVs can use light truck tires but since you do not have clearance for a taller tire none are going to fit. Tires blow out for several reasons. First, heat is the number 1 enemy of tires. On an ST tire this is a big concern and here's why. ST tires are built with a thicker sidewall to handle more vertical load. If under inflated it will cause the tire to generate excessive heat because of that thicker sidewall.
The other issue is overloading which is easily fixed by removing some weight.
I recommend sticking with the ST205/75R15 tire. If you are using a B or C load range then switching to a higher capacity load range D, # AM10245, will help. This tire is rated for 2,150 pounds at 50 psi. Remember to always inflate trailer tires to the maximum psi as indicated on the tire. I have included a link to our help article on tires for you.
