2 inch Hitch Adapter for Yakima Ridgeback 4 Bike Rack

Updated 09/17/2024 | Published 09/03/2024

Question:

I need to buy an adapter so I can use my old Yakima Ridgeback 4- bike rack but am scared I will buy the wrong one. My hitch is too big. I can’t tell the age of the bike rack and understand that determines which adapter will work. Can you help based on these photos? My son needs to get his bike to and from college and the rack is useless as is. Thank you!!

Hey Geri, thank you for the pictures of your Ridgeback manual as I can tell from that the correct hitch adapter you need is the part # 8880612.

The large screw is too big for the hole on my bike rack. (The smaller two screws fit to attach the small, heavy metal piece of the adapter set). I will attach a video. Since it all seems to work except the single, larger screw, can you sell/mail me a smaller diameter one?? Thanks

@GeriF We don't have a smaller screw but is it possible theres some dirt or corrosion in the threads thats preventing it from screwing in?

@JamesonC Hi. No, the singular, larger screw is too big for the pre-drilled hole in my Ridgeback bike rack. But a friend has a smaller screw that works. If I could, I would attach a photo of the screw showing it was too big. But it all worked out in the end. Thanks for your help!
