How Difficult Is Installation Of The Hidden Hitch Class 3 Trailer Hitch DT97YR?

How easy is the install for this hitch? The OEM Hitch requires removing the bumper. Does this require removing the bumper?

Hello Toby. Just like the OEM hitch, the Hidden Hitch Class 3 Trailer Hitch # DT97YR does require temporary removal of the bumper. As far as hitch installs go, this hitch is about as involved as it gets. You will temporarily remove the bumper and permanently remove the impact structure behind the bumper. The hitch replaces the impact structure and assumes its functionality. I estimate this install would take a novice installer 2 to 3 hours.
We do offer another hitch, the etrailer Class 3 Hitch # e23ZR that is also for the 2024 Toyota Rav4. This hitch bolts on to existing holes in the frame, and does not require removal of the bumper or impact structure. This install should take less than an hour. The only downside of this hitch is the receiver can obstruct the hands-free liftgate sensor. In most cases, the sensor will still work, you just have to wave your foot to either side of the hitch receiver to get it to activate. You will find our install video linked below.
