Recommended Parts for Adding Electric-Over-Hydraulic Disc Brakes on a Tandem Axle Pontoon Trailer
Question:
I want to add brakes to my tandem axle pontoon boat trailer. The trailer axles are made by Meher Part Number HA221483G rated to 3,750lbs. The mounting plates are 4-hole with 2-3/4 hole spacing and the wheel size is 13. What brake kit would you recommend? I prefer electric disk brakes, if available, and if not, electric drum brakes are ok. Electric over hydraulic actuated brakes would be best, if available. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out, Mike!
Your 2-3/4" hole spacing sounds like it matches with a standard 3,500 lb axle brake spacing (2-13/16") so we'll get you setup with an Electric-Over-Hydraulic (EOH) brake system using those parts.
I really like the DeeMaxx kits because they have a much better coating on them than others on the market. For your application we have the kit # DE66YR with the Maxx coating, and we have the kit # DE46YR which has the Maxx coating on the rotors and brackets along with stainless steel calipers.
To complete your setup I recommend picking up the DeeMaxx Hydraulic Brake Line Kit # DE57SR and pairing that with the Hydrastar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator w/ Breakaway and 7-Way RV Harness # HS381-9067 because the Hydrastar actuators have a proven track record and are very reliable.
