Question:

I plan to order the Derale D13503 for my 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 l s four-door sedan it says that it is compatible with it now my question is how many more quarts of Nissan ns2 cvt transmission fluid will I need upon adding the transmission cooler. And also I understand using any other transmission fluid voids warranty all that blah blah if you guys have any experience or know of a better transmission fluid to use for this vehicle it would be greatly appreciated to let me know cuz upon adding the cooler I have to flush my current fluid

You are correct, Nick. You will need to add transmission fluid to the system when installing a transmission cooler such as the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503 which is confirmed to fit your 2008 Nissan Altima. I cannot give you an exact amount of fluid, but what I would do is add a little bit, check the fluid level, then repeat as needed. Sometimes adding a cooler will require 1/2 to a full quart depending on the cooler and the length of the hose. Also, it is common for some fluid to leak out during install.

According to the online user manual, the 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5L uses CVT fluid NS-2 and this is the only kind of fluid I can recommend using. If your Altima is a hybrid, it will require a different type of fluid, in which case you will need to consult your manual.

Unless the current fluid is very dirty you should not need to flush it, and you can simply top it off. If the transmission fluid has not been flushed in a while it may be beneficial to have it flushed and replaced. I had the fluid flushed on my 2006 corolla recently and believe me - it needed it.
