Will the built-in heater strip work in below freezing weather?

Per Dometic, the heat pump on the Dometic Penguin II High Capacity RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu # DMC68ZR has a built-in sensor that shuts the heat strip off when temperatures are under 42 degrees Fahrenheit. At this point, the furnace takes over completely.
