Good day! I am trying to better understand the differences between the Thule Camber 4 bike and Thule Apex XT 4 bike. The only difference I see is the Apex model has the SnugTite and One Key System lock. Are there other differences? Thanks for your time and help, Joel

Hey Joel,

There are a couple important differences between the Thule Camber 4-Bike Rack # TH9056 and Thule Apex XT 4-Bike Rack # TH9025XT. One of them is indeed the locks, as the Camber does not have locks while the Apex comes with a lock for the rack as well as a cable lock for the bikes.

To some that's worth the additional price, but for me the most important difference is how they install in your hitch. The Camber uses a hitch pin you have to thread in and tighten with the wrench included with the rack. This isn't a difficult process but can take some time and effort that isn't necessary if you go with the Apex. Reason for that is the Apex requires no tools at all; you just put the rack in the hitch and tighten the knob on the side and you're done. So due to both the added security and convenience, if I was choosing one of the two to purchase, I would 100% go with the Thule Apex XT 4-Bike Rack # TH9025XT.

The only other thing to keep in mind with either of these racks is if one of the bikes you want to carry has a step-through frame, or you want to carry a children's bike, you'll need to give those bikes a horizontal mounting point with Bike Adapter Bar # HRBA-PRO.

@HeatherA I went with the Camber for two reasons. One, I already have a heavy duty bike lock chain cable, and two, threading in the hitch pin with a wrench is no problem for me.
