Jesse M, I tow my 1860 Alumacraft boat on a tandem aluminum trailer. Approximate weight 4800 lbs with a surge brake system. I am required to lock surge brake to avoid activation when backing up hill. Do I need to disconnect my trailer plug from my vehicle when submerged or backing up hill to avoid damage to the controller?? Additionally, is there a procedure to check my non working controller to be assured that replacing it with a new one of same type and manufacturer will not also be distroyed. Tks again.
