Updated 03/28/2024 | Published 03/22/2024

Question:

2015 Winnebago 1706FB lift kit. Do you have or can you recommend a source if you dont? BTW, unit has 13 wheels and tires which I will upgrade to 15 Falken Wildpeaks or equal. Many thanks, B2

Hi Bruce,

To lift your trailer we'll first need to check of the suspension and see if you have torsion axles or a leaf spring suspension. If you have torsion axles then I'll need to see the axle tag in order to determine what you have so I can pick out the correct kit. If you have a leaf spring suspension then you'll just need to check if the leaf springs sit below the axle (underslung) and measure the diameter of the axle.

If they are underslung then you'll need the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 (2-3/8" diameter axles) or # K71-385-00 (3" diameter axles) for each axle. Based on the GVWR I can see for your trailer you most likely have a 2-3/8" diameter axle. I've attached a couple of videos below where I'll help walk you through the installation process.

When increasing the size of the tires you'll want to keep in mind that you'll want to have at least 4" of space between the front and rear tires and that increasing the size is going to place these closer together.

Kevin, looking at the printout of both axle tags, the #'s are the same. Relevant #'s are: Top #: V000206386 Bottom #: RPO-0450A57325 Mfg. date: 5-22-14 Thnx, B2

@BruceB Thank you for the numbers, they came back to a diamond torsion axle. Is your torsion axle angled up into a diamond shape? If so Lippert unfortunately discontinued their riser kits for these axles, making the only way to raise the trailer height would be to replace your suspension with a leaf spring suspension so that you could use the lift kits that are compatible and available. You can try to look elsewhere for Lippert's part number 270682 but you'll likely have a hard time getting one. Replacing the suspension is obviously going to be more expensive since you aren't purchasing just a riser kit but we can help get you all of the components you'll need if this is the route you want to take.

@KevinC: hey, Kevin. Well phooey. Yes, I''ve got the diamond axle. And no, I'm not going to replace the suspension. I'll get as much lift as I can with wheels and tires [keeping in mind your 4" spacing advice]. Also, I will take a stab at locating the Lippert part but ain't gonna hold my breath. Thanks for your help. I've got a brake controller on order and will be buying some other bits and pieces. You've got a good inventory, good pricing, and a good website. Thnx, B2
