Question:
My 2011 Heartland Edge came with a bal t type jack. My inexperience lead to one warping-by lifting. I would like to purchase a scissor jack but change the direction of the jack so that the jack opens across the width of the trailer as opposed to the bal which opened along the length of the trailer, It seems that this would provide more stability. I am looking across at my neighbours and his trailer,a Salem opens across the width. Do you see a problem doing this providing I can mount the jack properly? Thx in advance.

Provided that you have the space and mount it properly you could mount a scissor jack such as # UF48-979032 any which way you want.
You might be interested in a different type of stabilizer such as # UF39-941705 which is electric or # UF39-941704 which is manual. These stabilizers mount to the bottoms of the frame of the trailer but cover a longer range along the frame for greater stability.
