Yakima FrontLoader Bike Rack Interferes with Opening Rear Hatch on 2014 Honda CR-V
Updated 02/25/2014 | Published 02/23/2014 >
Question:
Can not open rear hatch without hitting end of rack. Is it safe to load rack backwards, or should I consider cutting the rack to allow the rear hatch to open?

Helpful Expert Reply:
First, if possible, you can try moving the crossbars more forward on the roof of your 2014 Honda CR-V. That will move the FrontLoader, # Y02103, more forward and could solve the problem. Cutting the rack will void its warranty and could cause rack failure.
You can place the rack on the roof backwards if you wanted to. That is an acceptable way to mount the rack.
